:: ARTCS Model S21-NA: Project Number 57: Designation "Naginata"

:: The newest model ARTCS currently being developed by the Edges Synthos Corporation with the intention of replacing the now aging S16 Katana Series. With a lighter construction, the S21 is capable of far greater speed and agility than its predecessors, at the sacrifice of some armor. The basic design is in keeping with previous functionality and contains numerous hard points for the mounting of weapons and equipment.

:: As with the Katana, the S21 has hardpoints at each elbow, which also mount integrated beam sabres as last resorts. The twin pack hardpoints featured on the Katana have been converted into one, and the shoulder points now mount to the side of the shoulder than the top. In addition, other hardpoints have been integrated on the legs at the upper thighs and the side of the shins, as well as the lower back. In addition, the S21 is equipped with an enhanced Nueral Trace System, like that of the Katana Series, allowing for the simultaenous use of the equipped Hardpoints.

:: ARTCS S21-NA: Project Number 58: Designation "Basic Naginata Components":

:: These are basic armor plating components intended for mass production for the S21 upon completion. The addition of these armor components greatly increases the durability of the S21 while only minimizing the loss of speed and agility. In addition, it was determined that the use of forearm components, while initially intended for the Katana Series, would be preferable on the S21.

:: It should also be noted that the jumpjets have been completely redesigned for far more efficient capability, extending the range of the powered jump by threefold, from an original 30 feet to more than 90 feet. This is due to more powerful servos and jumpjets and the decreased mass as compared to the Katana Series.

:: The decreased mass does not translate to decreased protection for the pilot and internal components. The S21 is fully equipped with a thicker Dual-Layer of Laminate Armor in order to protect the armor plating from impacts. In addition, two Atmosphere Armor Projectors have been fully integrated into the torso, and are no longer optional components.

:: The purpose of the S21 is to increase the mobility offered by the Katana Series as well as its offensive and defensive capablities. With the S21 being far more mobile, and easier to equip, we in the Research and Development Branch feel that this Model has the potential to pass the rigorous testing phase that all ESC products are required to pass.

:: ARTCS S21-NA: Project Number 59: Designation "GunAngel Weapons Package:

:: In order to maximize offensive and defensive capabilities, the development of specialized Weapons Packages has been untilized. These Weapons Packages are designed to work a full set of equipment, or by component for the customization of packages to suit the needs of the pilot and the mission requirements.

:: The GunAngel Weapons Package was designed to provide short to long range support for troops and other ARTCS units. This package consists of twin shoulder mounted gatlings, twin elbow mounted cannons, a quad-howitzer mounted in the back slot, and a pair of eight-rack missile launchers on the lower legs.

:: When not in use, both the gatlings and howitzers fold back and out of the way. The code name GunAngel was chosen due to the appearnce of the gatlings in similarity to wings while folded in storage position. While this Package provides limited mobility, it rates very high in defensive and offensive uses.

:: The Gatlings are cabable of moving independantly, as per regulations regarding the Nueral Trace System. These lightwieght guns excel as close to short-medium range, and are ideal for suppressive fire, or spreadfire to cover large areas.

:: The arm cannons are best used from short-medium to long range, though they are slow-firing weapons. The missile racks are equipped with medium range missiles also lending to offesive or defensive power.

:: The most powerful weapon to be equipped in this Package is the Quad-Howitzers. These are essentially mounted artillery cannons which use explosive shells for long to extreme-long range use only (recommended). When utilizing the Howitzers, the S21 is capable of great damage over long ranges in order to soften up resistance or assaulting forces.

:: ARTCS S21-NA: Project Number 60: Designation "Missile Maniac 2.0 Weapons Package"

:: One of the most successful Packages for the Katana Series was the Missile Maniac Package, designed for heavy defensive use. While this Package was very effective at short to long range defensive, the Package itself had many flaws, most of all, the ammunition capacity. Once out of ammuntion, the Package itself was mostly useless for anything more than using the spent missile racks as extra armor.

:: For the S21, the Package was redesgined, and the number of missiles was increased from 80 to 96. Better mobility is possible, and many of the original flaws have been dealt with. As for the ammunition limit, the hardpoints are more accessible that those of the Katana Series and re-equipping takes far less time, allowing the spent racks to be exchanged for fresh equipment quicker and easier.

:: As with the original Package, the Missile Maniac 2.0 is equipped with a panic function that will fire all available ammunitions, which are immediately set to hunt and seek mode and will home in on any nearby enemy forces. We anticipate that this redsign will be utilized with far more efficiency than its predecesser.

:: ARTCS S21-NA: Project Number 61: Designation "Fleet Deployment Equipment Package"

:: The Space Thruster Pack desgined for the Katana Series was more of an after thought designed to keep the Katanas adaptable. They were little more than jump packs to serve ARTCS boarding units as propulsion to enemy hulls where the ARTCS could damage and destroy surface features such as weapons emplacements and sensor suites.

:: The newer "Fleet Deployment" Package, however, serves a far more specialized role in space operations for the newer S21s. This Package provides a far better manueverability, as well as increased space operation times. The S21 is not as fast as Ballista Starfighters, but in exchange, they are far more manueverable, making the S21 able to compete with starfighters in space combat.

:: Each of the 5 thruster pods are ejectable, meaning that damaged equipment can be ejected instead of endangering the unit. On the lower back is a self contained life support system than can operate at full capacity for up to a week, and the addition of this component renders the S21 airtight and sealed.

:: The Package utilizes 14 directional Resonance Thrusters with internalized Resonance Cells and fuel supplies. At full burn, this fuel can last 8 straight hours due to its compressed state, and being Resonance-Induced for fuel efficiency.

:: At full speed, an S21 equipped with a "Fleet Deployment" Package can achieve one third the acceleration of a Ballista Starfighter, as as such, newer carriers, such as the "Dyska's Might" have been equipped with modular hangars for when the S21s will be mass produced and deployed with the Security Fleets.

:: ARTCS S21-NA: Project Number 62-65: Designation "Other Packages To Be Completed"

:: There are numerous other Packages that are cuurently being designed to serve the S21. The one seen above is a previous version of what would become the GunAngel Package, and our researchers are currently redesigning the configuration to better suit deployment level troops.

:: This variant was designed to serve as an Honorguard unit, and has been equiped with a still very lethal Naginata, from which the S21's designation is derived. The Naginata is capable of slicing through Laminate Armor, so it is still a viable weapon choice.

:: Project Number 64: Orbital Drop Package:
:: A package designed for dropping individual S21s from orbit. Once landed, drop equipment is ejected and lightly armed shocktroop configurations are used to clear Dropzones for infantry and armor.

:: For use in defense of siege and artillery conditions for protecting large areas. Has hit some design flaws that are currently being refined.

:: ARTCS S21-NA: Project Number 54-56: Designation "Project Garrison"

:: Project Number 54 was originally called "Garrison" and was intended as a study into advanced flexibility of highly armored frames. The initial color was grey, and was designed in conjunction with Aries Weapons Inc prior to their dissolution. While the design was very flawed in several respects, with the dissolution of Aries Weapons Inc, the design was internalized and put to good use.

:: Project Number 55 was the intemediary step taken to correcting the flaws of the "Garrison". Here the power supply was replaced with the standard Resonance Powercell that all ESC specific equipment utilize. In addition, some armor has been added to protect vital spots and an ARTCS designed head has been added.

:: Project Number 56 was the preliminary to the current version. Laminate armor was added, and more useful and efficient servos were added to increase the frame's capabilites.

Yeah, that's one of my favorites too. The real catalyst for it, though, was the gatlings. They looked sort of like wings.

This is amazing man! i agree that the poor mech will be overwhelmed by the amount of rockets you put on, so maybe more powerful ones that attack a wide area, and have less of them? and i'm trying to make a few mechas of my own in LDD, but i'm pretty bad, any tips? Thanks

Well, I'd have to see first, but I would be happy to give you some tips. As for the engines, They look big, but they aren't really all that powerful because the cones have large cooling systems to keep them from melting. And these thrusters use very small amounts of fuel. In addition, most of the time, not all of them are lit, like the thrusters on the space shuttle.

Don't get me wrong, the size of these rockets and their thrust isn't exactly proportionate. Because of the type of engine used, these thrusters require cooling systems, which are built into the cones. And the fuel has special properties when it's contained and condensed. Not to mention that the fuel is resonance-induced to make the most of all the fuel used.
