DSB Litra S
About this creation
Continuing my line of Danish steam locomotives I present Danish State Railways (DSB) Litra S 2-6-4T. These were a large class of tank locomotive built from 1924 to 1928 with a total of 20 built. The first two were built by The August Borsig Locomotive Works Tegel, Berlin and the remaining 18 built by Frichs. I must say this was a difficult build for me. This is mostly because of the large side tanks and smoke lifters which takes some trial and error. This is also the largest tank locomotive I've built.

The way the tanks hang down over the drivers had to be done with enough clearance for the side rods to move. With any of my trains I try to balance out accuracy to the prototype and functionality with Lego track, but because of the length between the drivers I couldn't build any side rods from LEGO. At least with the parts I have on hand. This is why the main coupling rods are the only non-LEGO part on the model. Again this MOC also lacks bogies so it can't negotiate curved track, the problem being I focus too much on detail and just making it roll along straight track.

But oh well I have no layout ot run it on (yet) but when the time comes I'll work on making trains with bogies.
