Function: Target Master weapon
Motto: I fire 100 shades, what's yours?
Profile: To describe PhaserWing as brash would be an understatement. He's proud of his ability to modulate the energy he fires in both modes to such a high degree that he can melt, sting, stun, explode and vaporise almost any substance. His accuracy is incredibly high, but his range is frequently sacrifices at lower energy settings. He is also an incredible aerial combat specialist, able to match even the legendary StarScream in dog fighting skills.
Weakness: over confidence often leaves him with no fall back position if his weapons and flight skills are expended or not available. Useless once grounded.
Waaay back in 1987, inspired by Hasbro's own Target Master range I came up with the idea of making the transforming weapons, not Nebulan (human) partners, but beasts/pets. I called the range Target Pets, though in hind sight Target Master is still a better name as it describes the wielder of the weapon, rather than the weapon itself.
The idea was to do updated versions of all the original "minions" with weapon modes, so basically you would have had laserbeak, ravage, ratbat, bussaw, steeljaw and ramhorn all weaponry.
I only ever got as far as brainstorming alt modes for Laserbeak, ravage and steeljaw.
This MOC is based on the sketches I did for Laserbeak.
I know, the colours aren't right, I'll do a more G1 accurate colour scheme later.

very cool! There is a third party toy company having G1 look-a-likes turn into guns for other third party toys! Similar concept! But I think I like yours better!
It was looking at the new weaponry versions of Starscream, Megatron and Prime that reminded me about this old concept. I've tried mocing up my old ravage and steeljaw designs but they just wind up waaay too big in Lego. I may give it another go later, but I think it's just beyond my current knowledge of the mechanics required. Maybe with more practice I might figure something out.
I have had an idea for ratbat to turn him into an axe weapon, but it's quite close to the Animated version.
