A series of photos that I modified using Gimp. Not really used that program before, but it was definitely different.
About this creation
The ESC Security Forces is an extremely versatile and flexible para-military organization, and no where is this more evident that the Fleet forces that protect ESC interests at home and abroad.
The fleets, designated Sector Fleets because they are assigned to planetary sectors, are highly flexible in their make up, able to change configurations in mere minutes. This is because the Sector Fleets are built on a building block system which allows commanding officers to taylor their forces to the task at hand.
The core of each Sector Fleet, Flagship Tactical Groups are built around the Minx Class Flagships which serve as the center of the fleet. Each Sector Fleet maintains at least one Flagship Tactical Group, on which the presiding officer, usually a Half-Admiral or higher, commands the Fleet in which he has been placed in command of. In addition, four Resta Class Frigates are assigned directly to the Minx Class as support.
Destroyer Tactical Groups are the offensive backbone of the Sector Fleets. Each Group is comprised of three Geneva Class Destroyers and four Resta Class Frigates, providing high fire power when it is need the most. Each Sector Fleet maintains at least one Destroyer Group, but the average is five such groups.
Carrier Tactical Groups provide excellent support and cover operations, as well as offensive and defensive power. Each Group consists of two Soritan Class Carriers, three Resta Class Frigates, and two Zukil Class Maintenance Frigates. The carriers carry a full compliment of fighters, bombers and space capable ARTCS mecha, making this Group one of the most flexible, and deadly, groups available. Each Sector Fleet maintains at least one Carrier Group, but the ones not permanently assigned are shifted to where they are needed most on a regular basis.
Torpedo Tactical Groups are excellent when used in guarding actions and for ambushes. Torpedo Groups consist of two Kystil Class Torpedo Cruisers, and five Resta Class Frigates. The Kystil Class give excellent support fire, and are commonly used for protecting vital ships of the Fleets, and for ambushes along known enemy routes. Kystils function much like ancient Submarine warships on old Earth. And their Torpedo Volley ability makes them able to stop most enemy charges dead cold. And the Resta Class frigates serve well to intercept most ships attempting to engage the Kystils directly. Most Sector Fleets maintain at least one Torpedo Group, while a few boast three or four of these potent groups.
Frigate Tactical Groups provide much needed support to the Fleets. These groups consist of six Resta Class Frigates, and one Zukil Maintenance Frigate. If Geneva Class Destroyers are the back bone of the Fleets, then Resta Class Frigates are its arms and hands. These ships move quickly to support their larger Fleetmates, and fill in any gaps in fields of fire. Some admirals have used Frigate Groups to supplement their forces in imaginative, if unorthodox, manners. Each Sector Fleet maintains no less than 3 such Frigate Groups, but often employ many more.
The Edges Synthos Corporation Trust is currently comprised of 11 star systems with a total of 43 worlds. Each star system is protected by two Sector Fleets, allowing for 22 defensive Fleets. In addition, 5 Expeditionary Fleets are maintained should the need to take the fight to the enemy arise. Two such Expeditionary Fleets are currently engaged, and three have been held in reserve.
Well, the real purpose of this one is to show off that I can, indeed, use GIMP. I think the main pic turned out rather well.
This is a bonus, I just added a background to the shot of the Kystil Class firing off a volley.
As I learn to do more and more with GIMP, I have big plans for these and more, so stick around, ey?

Great looking fleet. The backgrounds are a nice touch. All together you really got this wow factor going on. All you got do now is come up with the enemy fleet and stage a battle. That would be hot.
Shh, don't give my plans away. Well, I guess that the cat's out of the bag now. I've already been working on some "sruvivor" ships of Zeshran Techs. Now they resemble more of pirates rather than a military force, though.
