Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina (Mos Eisley)
Well I finally put something together after hoarding and scavenging tan pieces for weeks. This wretched hive of scum and villainy is both my tribute to and defiance of Lego's lack of a decent release for this cantina.
About this creation
Basically the bar was built to be modular and tears away into three pieces, the curved bar and two sets of two seating areas.

The three pieces don't snap together or hinge anywhere, since it's not a vehicle it won't be swooshing about. I was going to do one side open as per Lego's usual mandate with locations but I decided to angle the tan baseplates at 90 degrees for the sides, which saved the day because I didn't have near enough tan to construct "proper" walls.

As I always try to do, this MOC is playability first, film-accuracy a distant second, so while the layout is not %100 faithful, the modular components can be arranged to suit a play area as desired.

I'll replace these photos with better ones soon. I need to build a photo stage for all these MOC's.

Notice Batman at the bar! He's already been cut off. He's hammered and you can see him reaching for his drink but it's not there. Watto (who by the OT has long lost his junk shop gambling) is the first sad face you see when you enter the bar.

Note the droid detector ("we don't want their kind in here!") next to the only doorway. There is another doorway bolted shut in the front of the bar, but that hasn't been used in years.

The dome on top serves as a freezer and keeps the supply of cold drinks cold. It's also a good spot for assassins to peek inside to see where choice targets are lounging.

I'd love some comments. I looked at a lot of Tattooine sets on this site and got a lot of inspiration for this. Once I get more tan I'll be making a few smaller buildings to complete Mos Eisley.

Nice! I think it works well with it folded out. Clever!

Love it ! Sometimes I wish I had more tan, to make more tatooine type buoldings... I've got the official mos eisley cantina set, but of course it is quite small and it's more like 'one corner of the mos eisley cantina' set... I love your version here, it's kept the right style of architecture, looks great, and you've even managed to capture the same atmosphere as in the movie in your photos - great work ! - Dan

Quoting MarshallsLEGO UK This is a really ingenious design, i love that the sides come out, lots of really great detail excellent creation
Thanks for the compliment! It looks a little different now, I fixed all three pieces to a tan baseplate. When guests came over they sometimes want to inspect it, and if picked up the wrong way it will all smash to pieces. But it still comes apart easily.

Quoting chris rogers i really like this creation because it has the feel of the film with it and keeping the tan color was definatly worth it being a bit smaller than usual because it fits the planet. keep up the good work and it really is a great creation that could work as a lego set in stores.
Thanks a lot! One great thing about smaller models is that they don't take up a lot of shelf space. I do hope Lego takes another stab at the cantina and makes a Cantina band!!

Quoting crash 703 Nice! The way you built it gives it the ragged broken down feel of Mos Eisley. Although it's a bit small for a cantina.
Cheers! Haha, yes, I realize it is small - I was working with a limited supply of tan pieces. I think that when building a kit, even from scratch, having the correct colors makes a huge difference. If I can get my hands on enough tan I do intend to expand this cantina a bit! I'd love to take a crack at the Lars homestead as well. I'll try the same technique on that one, too. Thanks for the input!
