A mission of mine lately has been to come up with some better wings for the banshee (the Avatar one, not the helicopter one), and then the solution came after I saw one of William Pugh's WIP mocs, and these are the result. (haha beatcha Will)
About this creation
Partial credit goes to William Pugh and Mike Nieves. These arent a copy, but some of the design ideas came from or were inspired by them. This shows the wings folded up in walking mode. One of the differences between mine and Wills and Mikes is mine have some rotational movement at the joints, offering more poseability. They are also smaller and thinner.
This is the more incomplete left wing in walking mode. of course the blue support in the middle is temporary.
This would be if the wings were mostly spread, as if in mid flight.
So Ill need to make some Bricklink orders to get the pieces in the colors I want, because the right wing is mostly how I want it, but the left wing isnt. Obviously, these arent the whole wings, just the "skeleton," I will cut and stretch blue cloth between the frames in the end.
Also Will, we need to come up with a good way to do the rear wings, those are really complicated, if you make them with the leg things.
Anyway guys, thanks for looking, let me know what you think!

Sweet! Really liking them. Yours really work well in a smaller scale, than say, my 75ft long dragon. Well, in minifig scale it'll be like 60-75 ft. But yes, the rear will be difficult, and I'll start testing techniques out right now. Great job! Oh, and when doing the cloth, I'd add, somehow, speckles of different color too. Just a thought. |
