G.A.I.A./ESC Samhain EDGE 1 "Olympic Fire"
A late 2nd Alien War Black Project co-opted by G.A.I.A. and the Edges Synthos Corporation.
About this creation

The Samhain EDGE 1 is the result of a Black Research project between G.A.I.A. and the ESC. It's mission was to produce a fast, tough, manueverable fighter to bolster the Human forces against the Draggonne. Key researchers were borrowed from the teams that developed the Samhain Fire, the Euro Systems Fighter series, and the ESC researchers that had developed the AD-35S Ballista.

The length of the fuselage is a trait that is common to most ESC warships and to the Samhain Fire series. Many other common traits were included to create a craft that retained the Manueverability of the Ballista, the durability of the Samhain Fire, and the speed of the Euro Systems Fighter.

The primary engines are built in two sets. The inner set follow standard ESC configuration, including many key technologies, despite vital ESC systems. This includes an advanced gyro-stabilized balance system for those tight turns and flips. The outer engine set follows the Euro Systems configuration more closely, though again, ESC touches throughout.

As with the Ballista, the bottom of the craft is largely empty to allow for the attachment of weapons racks and equipment, implying that the Samhain EDGE 1 can operate carrying missiles, much the way the Ballista can. Further combat testing will include this equipment.

The Samhain EDGE 1 was designed for dogfighting, an area that both the Ballista and the Samhain Fire excel at. In the nose of the craft, are a pair of large calibre dogfighter cannons for dealing with those powerful Draggonne fighters. The ESC was gracious enough to offer a contract for ESC Security Forces Issue Sub-Penetrator Rounds (SPR) with the condition that these rounds not be used against ESC assets.

The ESC did not, however, divulge the technology behind their Resonance Powercells, or their Laminate Armor. These and many other secure technologies are absent from the Samhain EDGE 1, at least for the time being. This is ESC protocal and will not be amended.

CREATOR'S NOTES:

Parrington, a very big shout out to you, since it was your awesome fighters that led me to this design. Thank you for all the great work you've presented us.

Not sure if, how, or when this would fit into the GAIA Story, but I thought it would fun. I leave it to you to decide, Parrington.

Hope you all like it!

Quoting Jesse Long This is awesome, Rabid! This is perhaps the best fighter that I've seen on here in quite some time. Keep up the good work, man!
Thanks, but it's far from awesome. In fact, if you want to see awesome, check out Parrington's fighters. Those are awesome!

Quoting Marc "Edge" R.unde Oh come on, this baby deserves every praise it gets! Parrinton has already said the essential things: Samhain + Eurosystems fighter + EDGE Tech = Awesome! A true Draggone killer, mate. Those colours fit perfectly. The only thing that could be a little better is the name. G.A.I.A./ESC Samhain EDGE 1 sounds good for a production codename, but doesnīt deliver much, hmm, emotions. What do you think about "Olympic Fire"? All true G.A.I.A. fighters are called "...-Fire" and yours has got that greek touch...! Itīs just an idea, if you donīt like it, forget what Iīve said! Anyways, great work! ~Cheers, Marc
I've been thinking about that actually, but it was designed by the three different teams working together, and I can only imagine the fights they had over just the name. But I like that, "Olympic Fire" it shall be.

Excellent excellent fighter, This is a very sharp ship. The colors work great and I like that you left it open for different missile systems or weapons. This really is a great looking design.

Quoting Parrington Levens Mate!!! Where to begin? I am actually smiling ear to ear looking at this, so let me thankyou for finding inspiration in my two best fighters. And my gosh, does this beast just scream with all those design aspects I loved pouring into those models so much. This even has a smidgeon of the celtic fire in it to. Man, I never thought to use the Euro systems engines with the samhain fire shape, and I have to see this creations of yours, is just stunning! Love the sheer brutish sense of power this thing evokes, and love the grills on those intakes. Man this thing is awesome, and I think you have counter inspired me mate. I am goign to do something like this at some stage, no doubt, just to keep it on the shelf next to the others. And yeh, this fits in GAIA allright, mate given its colors, I would just love to see a Greek world using these. I can just see this thing landing in marble columned coutyards to the greeting of Neo Spartans and white robed goddesses. Well, if you like that kind of imagery? lol. Brilliant model mate, cooler than the originals...
Your work is cooler by far. I do appreciate the high praise, though. A Greek world would be interesting. The ESC is willing to do it's part to help any ally/business-partner, but it does have its protocals. No uber-tech for G.A.I.A. yet. Incidently, I need to get to that second episode of "Unintended Consequences". I look foreward to doing more G.A.I.A. builds.
