He's not a normal Toa of light...
About this creation
My entry for Toa of Light for the
2011 Bio-Thon!
NAME: Artikus
GENDER: Male
SPECIES: Unknown
ALIGNMENT: Toa
OCCUPATION: Toa, Nightlight
TITLE(s): Shiny, Smarty
ELEMENT(s): Light
MASK POWER: Light and breathing underwater (it's airtight)
WEAPONS: Fan blades, fists, heat vision, blinding light, knowledge
MOC STATUS: Assembled
STORY: Artikus was a normal [insert here]-matoran traveling Mata Nui. He was traveling to the Crystal Towers of knowledge to investigate some of the ancient lore, when a beam of light refracted through the crystals and hit him dead-on in the chest. (the blast was thought to be from Takanuva.) The beam altered his DNA, along with passing much of the knowledge from the crystals to him. He gained the powers to shoot fluorescent heat beams, fly and blind foes with a radiating aura of light. Because he is essentially made of light, he can become almost invisible, but it's really draining so he doesn't do it much. He fights in an elite band of odd Toa, going only where the other Toa have failed. His legs were replaced by fanblades, which allow him to fly as much as grind his enemies to bits.

I really like the mask design. I imagined if for something bigger, but it fit him so well!

Fourth Wall commentary: I wanted to build something original, and I had recently seen some Mocs of bionicles made of obscure colors. I liked the idea, and chose the most obscure color of all; translucent! Due to the fanblades as his feet, he doesn't stand up well so I couldn't really pose him. He's a lot more poseable in person. And if you're wondering, the trans-red angle beams are from the 4WD Technic set.
I built myself a photo box to replace my pool table. Please comment on whether you think it's worth it, or if the pics are too yellow!
Don't forget to rate and comment! Go team TORG!
Oh, and if I got any Bionicle fact wrong, just tell me. I know near nothing about Bionicle lore.

Eh, trans-colors are hard to build in, there isn't mush variety. After an hour, this is the best I got. There aren't really any other large translucent parts to use anyway, so think this is the best shot I could do. |

It's not tall enough to be a toa. And the proportions need a bit of work. May I join TORG?
um, you already are? |

Nice concept, not very well executed though. You should make a second version of this using black to make the structure and using the fluorescent pieces has ornaments. Also,I have no team.May I join yours?
Well I just checked your page, and I like your stuff! You're in! I'll cancel my merging request, it looks like our team can fill up! Yay! |

0.0 Now that isn't what I expected in this topic :P On the one hand the use of trans pieces for a Toa of Light is a great idea! But... I don't know, I'm sure you could have done better :) Great work though! Like that feet idea! 2/5
I beg you to reconsider! By definition (on the homepage of the group), a 3/5 means it has great potential but could be better! You said It's good but can be better, meaning it should be a 3! Anyway, a two is rather demeaning... |

Dang! That's a lot of trans pieces! Great design! |
|
|
Still, you don't have to build with JUST florescent pieces you can mix it with other colors and it could look ten times better. ;) |
|
|
You made translucent way more complex then needed be. |

Heehee! Brilliant. Not a patch on CT's own neon toa, but considering you're not terminally addicted to bricklink like he is, this is pretty genius. Do you not have any trans-coloured system parts though? He'd look great with some multicoloured greeblage! |

Not bad. Though the overall build needs to be redone. His legs are to short and the feet are, well, I don't need to explain those. His body is too square and basic. I think you could have done better on this.
Again, it's pretty hard to work with fluorescent parts. Try doing it, and you'll probably see why it's so hard! |
