About this creation
Thanks a lot for checking out my first steps into space with my brand new MOC: Galileo. So far my focus has been on creating technic vehicles, but observing the many beautiful spacecraft builds posted on MOCpages inspired me to build one myself.
The name Galileo for this space vehicle felt really appropriate, since his ‘heliocentric view of things’ is actually one of the main features in my design. The circular section of the ship consists of several nuclear fusion reactors creating a sphere of plasma of 150.000.000Kelvin in the center where the actual fusion takes place (the Sun!). And for those who think that this is just some big crap I made up, I have several prominent sources which support this technique should work in theory (please check Wikipedia et al.). And this of course is more than enough energy to supply the ion engines and blast Galileo with warp speed into the galaxy!!
But enough with this sci-fi b*shit and let’s get to some pictures!
Let’s start off with some general shots:
The ship is 82 studs long, counts 27 studs in width and is 10 studs in height. For the design I actually had a lot of inspiration from Zeratuls II Void Seeker in Starcraft II.
Here is a nice view of the circular section (top and bottom). It took me a while to get this part sturdy enough to be a carrying structure. Although the whole ship weighs only 0.480kg, it’s quite long and slender.
Here is a nice view of the cockpit! Minifigure size of course.
I always like my MOC’s to have some functions. So first is the ‘working’ ion engine.
What is a space ship without some nice weapon systems. Here is the retractable main plasma gun.
This shows the retractable plasma missiles.
And to conclude a nice shot from the bottom!
Thanks again for checking out my MOC. Feel free to give any comment you like!

Very, very, very cool spaceship. However, if (as you say) there's a miniature sun in the middle of that circle, then wouldn't it be shining right in the pilot's eyes? if so, that's a design flaw and it should be moved to behind the cockpit. Still, excellent ship.
That's a smart one I have to admit. Lets say that the green canopy blocks most of the light from this miniature sun :)
Thanks for all the awesome comments!

if you'd made it black and green it would look like the Void Seeker from Starcraft 2 |

That is a fantastic design. It's so unique I am envious of your abilities. I would greatly appreciate any wisdom you could impart on me as I am always looking to better my MOC through the instruction of those more skilled than I. If you have a moment to give me any tips, you can do so here: www.mocpages.com/moc.php/255317
Thanks for sharing this amazing creation. |

If this is your first spaceship, MOCpages better look out. This is really good and if you keep it up you could create some of the best ships on here! |

It's great to see a spaceship of the builder's own design looking so beautiful.. I can't believe you haven't done one before - this is just so, so good. |
