ESC "Glance at Sunset" Daroby Class Medical Ship
Where wounded ESC personnel are, so shall be the Medical Fleet, to care for them and to nurse them back to health.
About this creation

CULTURAL NOTE:

It is considered a grave offense to fire upon medical ships, facilities, or even personnel with the Corporate Terratories. Any corporation that does so is immediately punished with harsh sanctions, and often, the offending individuals executed. This courtesy was originally put in place by Zeshran Techs, and accepted by all corporations.

The Edges Synthos Corporation has many primary services available, such as terraforming projects, military products, and even transport capabilities. But one of the most important functions that the ESC fulfills is its Medical and Pharmacuetical Branch. This includes the manufacture of medical tools and medicines, the training of medical personnel both combat and non, hospital facilities, and even medical ships, which act as fleet mobile field hospitals.

The first very noticeable difference between the Daroby class and the other ESC ships is the difference in color. All ESC medical units feature a blue and white colorscheme, rather than the standard red and whites of the corporate colors. In addition to this, it should be noted that other than its strong point defense system, Daroby class ships do not have any offensive or defensive weaponry.

Daroby class Medical Ships are unusually fast for ships of their size, with four main drives to allow for this speed. Theyre are relatively low mass, though very durable. The ships themselves do mount very good armor in order to protect the patients themselves. However, most Daroby class never even enter the battle field, instead relying on shuttles and RR (Rescue/Recovery) Frigates to relay injured from the battlefield to the hospital.

For Rescue and Recovery, as well as patient transfer, Daroby class ships feature four multipurpose airlocks. The foreward two most often are used for docking with smaller medical transports. The aft two have special equipment for boring into the hulls of damaged ships in order to recover injured, as well as being used regularly to dock with Sobel Class Medical Recovery Ships.

Within the transparent armored bow can be seen the primary Hospital facility. The purpose of the transpareent armor is to help reduce stress on the patients by relieving the conditions of close-quaters living. The opened up space serves to allieviate stress and aide the healing process. At the very pow of the ship is a small hanger that stores small robotic suits built using the ARTCS concept for recovery and rescue operations. These RaRES (Rescue and Recovery Extraction System) prove very useful for recovering wounded from sunk ships.

The tower at the top of the craft holds patient quarters, as well as facilities for their leisure and care. Other facilities and more patient quarters are located in the main body of the ship. The observation deck at the very top is filled with a lush garden and functions much like a park that patients are allowed to move about at their liesure. This serves to help pass the time and to encourage healing and promote wellness.

This is a direct size comparison between the Soritan Class Carrier and the Daroby Class Medical Ship. While not quite as big, the Daroby Class can carry many more people, as it is a floating hospital.

HISTORICAL NOTE:

Daroby Medical and Pharmacuetical

A large medical based corporation focused on research and production of medical goods and services, as well as the training of medical staff.

Daraoby was highly respected for their nuetrally provided medical products and services. When Daroby medical units arrived on the battlefield, all parties involved voluntarily took care not to fire on or endanger those valueable medics.

Prior to the rise of the Edges Synthos Corporation, Daroby's top client was Zeshran Techs, for the purpose of medical care for the soldiers that they trained and "rented". Shortly after the ESC made its debut as a military manufacturer, they quickly signed an important deal with Daroby for medical services.

As relations between Zeshran Techs and the ESC deteriorated, Zeshran Techs, which traded protective forces to Daroby in exchange for medical services, began to cut its contracts with Daroby, instead favoring contracts with smaller corporations to apply pressure to cut their deals with the ESC. Instead, Daroby, as a result of the financial strain, began to rely on the ESC for protective serviices, especially since their now unguarded medical convoys were falling prey to pirate attacks. It was suspected, but never proven, that Zeshran Techs had been behind the pirate attacks.

The damage was done, despite the ESC's best efforts. Daroby had begun to lose assets and with their financial troubles, they were forced into a buyout. Zeshran Techs swept in like a hawk, but the ESC had beaten them to the punch, and this further widened the breach. The ESC absorbed Daroby, and maintained the former corporation's blues and whites for all things medical. This was done to honor Daroby, which had stood beside the ESC when many corporations scorned them.

Since absorbing Daroby, The ESC's Medical Branch has become the third largest medical firm in the corporate terratories. Even now, all corporations respect the ESC Medical Serivces, much the way that they had shown to Daroby. Even Zeshran Techs will not harm ESC Medical Assets, despite the current conflict.

ESC Sobel Class Rescue/Recovery Frigate

These small, very fast frigates often accompany Daroby class Medical Ships for the purpose of ferrying wounded from the battlefield to the large and slower Daroby's. While patients can be and are often treated on the Sobel Class frigates, their pirmary purose is to dart into combat and recover injured.

Sobel Class feature six main drives and are among the fastest ships ever produced by the ESC. This speed serves well when darting into combat zones for rescue and recovery. That speed also ensures that more personnel survive their injuries by making sure they arrive at the appropriate facilities quickly and efficiently.

Like the Daroby Class, Sobel Class frigates feature two airlocks for latching onto damaged ships for injury recovery. these locks however do extend down to meet the damaged hulls, as well as featuring anchors to hold the ship in place as the rescue operations are performed.

Sobel class frigates feature mo offensive weaponry of any kind, and the only defensive weapon is the point defense system, used for shooting down incoming torpedos and weapons fire as well as limited shielding.

A size comparison between the Daroby class and Sobel Class.

CULTURAL NOTE:

Sobel was the the homeworld of Daroby Medical and Pharmacuetical. When Daroby was acquired by the ESC, the newly implemented ESC Medical Services was essential Daroby, simply under ESC control and name. Nearly all personnel saw little change to their jobs and lives, save the ESC brand name. Sobel is now one of five major branch worlds within the ESC Corporate Trust.

CREATOR'S NOTE:

Quoting Mike C Very sharp lookin ships. I really like the shape of them, very nice build.
Yeah, the shape was really appealing, but it took me forever to finish this design. I kept redesigning it over and over. I finally felt mostly satisfied with this one.

Quoting Neil Dynamo This one has to be my favourite, for the observation/garden tower thingy. :D I really like the design used for the frigates, too. The RaRes mechs sound interesting too, are you going to be building them or are they just going to live in our imagination for now?
I will eventually build the RaRes but not yet. Thanks for the positive feedback and the edit review on the main picture.

Quoting Parrington Levens Some nice shapes in there! Mate I have uploaded the uniforms for you, hope they help...
Yeah, those are a big help. Thank you very much, though I may have to modify them given that LDD is somewhat limited.

Quoting Keith Johansen These are pretty cool, Rabid! You've got me into the mini/micro-scale ship building craze too, heh. I'm not one to advertise, but I was hoping you could check out my micro-scale Dreadnought and give me some pointers? :)
It's a pretty neat ship. I'm glad you were inspired, you used some really neat techniques.

Quoting Cody G Beautiful work, I love the blue and white color scheme! Very NEOS!
Yes. These corporation colors have been selected since before I joined MOCPages, as well as the Zeshran Techs blacks and yellows, and a few other corporations as well.
