Ok, these two started out as new additions to my 25th century mech concept, but I wondered what would happen if I folded them up, and the results looked vaguely like little space aged tanks, so they became my version of Frenzy (red) and Rumble (blue).
They AREN'T intended to be G1 accurate, even though I have attempted a cassette form with the last image.
Below is also a combined centaur form just for fun.
I may take another crack at them as I would like the vehicle form to look, well, more vehicle like.
Looking at the reworked vehicle forms I'm reminded of the vehicle mode for Animated Prime. Weird huh, which made me realise the transformation and look of the finished designs is more like G1 pipes/huffer than rumble and frenzy.
I'm planning on taking another crack at the limbs. While I'm about 75% happy with the robot mode (I really need to do something about the head) I'm not happy that I haven't found a way to disguise the arms in vehicle mode. They look weird just hanging at the sides.
To keep the minion vibe I may (only may) convert them into weapons for both vehicle and robot form, which means I may get rid of that arm joint altogether.
As for the head, it occurs to me that I designed it to fold out of sight, but it's already underneath the vehicle so no folding necessary, so I may work a different kind of head, I'll brainstorm some ideas. Trouble is I don't want it to be too big as that will change them from roughly minicon scale to something closer to a delux and that would mean dramatically changing the transformation.
I may take this frame and deliberately adapt a huffer variant (yellow/blue/silver colour scheme) and a pipes variant (blue/silver) with "pipe arms" forming smoke stacks in place of the weird backwards facing rails it currently has.
I'll see how these changes look and if I like them I'll post them here - otherwise they will wind up in the trash folder...
