I Choose You! Episode 3 (A Pokemon CYOA)
Previously on I Choose You!, Caleb, Leon, D, and Jaeger set off to battle the Viridian City gym leader. Before they could enter the gym, however, they were knocked out and their Pokemon were stolen! After seeing a suspicious note on the gym door, and seeing the strange way the people of Viridian City acted towards trainers, our heroes went to the PokeMart to decide what to do. Thus, our story continues...
About this creation
The dialogue for each picture is located beneath it.

Viridian City PokeMart

Jaeger: I'm not going to take any chances questioning these people without a Pokemon to protect me. I'm going into the forest to catch another Pokemon. Then we can solve this mystery.

Leon: Good plan, I'll go with. Viridian Forest is a dangerous road to take alone, not to mention there are some great Pokemon in there.

D: I'm with you two, although I would have gone anyway...

Caleb: Well, you guys are going to need one of these. There are only four Pokeballs in stock, so we each only get one. I'm going South myself, I want to catch a water Pokemon.

Caleb rings up the Pokeballs
Caleb: Hey man, how come there are only four Pokeballs in stock? Isn't this a PokeMart?

Shopkeeper: They came in here and.... I mean, it's just been a good sale week, I'll be sure to order more soon. *cough*

D: Likely story, PokeMarts are known for their nearly endless supply, not to mention this town looks like it hates trainers. What's the deal?

Shopkeeper: Er, um, that'll be p800. [If anyone has a Poke-dollar sign in text, please put it in your comment so that I can copy and paste it. Thanks!]

Caleb: Here's your Pokeballs, guys.
D: Thanks. What was that Shopkeeper's deal? And what did he mean by "they"?
Caleb: No idea.
Leon: I think there's way more going on here than we know about.
Jaeger: Agreed. But we need to get catching if we want some answers. Are you sure you won't come with us, Caleb?

Caleb: I can't, I need a water Pokemon. If Charmander is used against me, I have to defeat him... it's the only way I can get him back.

Jaeger: A wise decision, although I hope that it doesn't come to that. I don't know if I could battle against my first Pokemon.
D: Well, goodbye, Caleb. I hope we meet again after this is sorted out.

The trainers say their farewells and go their separate ways, three to the North and one to the South.

Viridian Forest

Old Man: Hey, young whippersnappers! Do ya know how to catch Pokemon?

D: Who are you?

Old Man: I might not look like much now, but I was once a great trainer! So, do you know how to catch 'em all?

D: It looks pretty simple, you just throw a ball at a weakened Pokemon, right?
Old Man: Of course you don't, you're just starting! Here, let me show you.
D: Hey!

Old Man: Look over there, it's a Weedle! I'll show you how to catch it!

Old Man: It's easy, you just throw a ball at the weakened Pokemon!
D: You've got to be kidding me.

The ball hits Weedle right in the head

A flash of light surrounds the startled Pokemon, and it is brought into the ball.

Old Man: Gotcha! Weedle was caught!

Leon: Huh.
Jaeger: Yep.

Old Man: A pretty Weedle for a pretty lady. Hehehe...
D: If this guitar wasn't so valuable, I'd club you with it.

The three trainers continue their journey, a little bit weirded out, but still determined.
D: I can't belive my only Pokemon is a Weedle...

Jaeger: What's that?
Leon: What?

A Scyther and a Bulbasaur circle each other, apparently in some sort of territorial dispute

Leon: Dude, what are the odds that two wild Pokemon would weaken each other when two Pokemon-lacking trainers are walking by?

The speedy Scyther attacks first, uppercutting Bulbasaur with razor-sharp scythes. Bulbasaur cries out in pain.

Bulbasaur, hurt but still on its feet, returns the unfriendly gesture with a hurricane of razor-sharp leaves, but Scyther's type advantage, as well as its broad scythes, shrugs off the damage.

Scyther flies in, impaling Bulbasaur with its blades, but Bulbasaur was quick enough to offer one last surprise, a poisonpowder attack!

Scyther, badly poisoned, staggers back.

Both Pokemon seem to be in bad shape, perfect for catching.

Leon and Jaeger: ...

Leon and Jaeger: Mine!

Two exceptionally rare Pokemon in an exceptionally rare situation, but who gets what Pokemon? That Scyther is powerful, but Bulbasaur is one determined Pokemon. Plus, it has the potential to evolve, whereas Scyther does not. Leon and Jaeger must act quickly to catch their preferred Pokemon!

Meanwhile...
Pallet Town, Coastline

Caleb heads to the beach to look for water Pokemon. While he doesn't want to show his face in his hometown, beaten and without a Pokemon, he needs the type advantage if he wants to redeem himself as a trainer and as a companion. Caleb looks back at Pallet Town, dismayed that he had to sneak through it like a criminal, when it was he who was robbed.

Caleb: Okay, time to get catching! Hey, who are you?
???: Oh, what's up, little dude? Care to join me on this most excellent fishing adventure?

Caleb: Um, sure. What's your name?
Cody: The name's Cody, dude. Water Pokemon trainer and professional beach bum. And who might I be calling upon?
Caleb: I'm Caleb. It's nice to meet you.
Cody and Caleb chat for a bit, and Cody offers to help Caleb catch a water Pokemon with his fishing rod.

Caleb: So just hold it like this and wait for Pokemon to bite?
Cody: Yeah, easy, huh? Oh, and you'll need bait. Right now, I have Tentacool bait and Shellder bait.

Caleb: What's the difference?

Cody: Well, Tentacool bait is just some fish eggs, but Shellder bait is a gumball wrapped in bacon. Shellder love it, and it makes a pretty good snack for people, too.

Caleb begins to choose, when he sees a strange figure on a boat with some suspicious cargo.

The figure starts up his engine, and speeds off into the distance.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Okay, so here are your choices! Remember, ONLY those who are characters in the CYOA can make choices. If you are not one of the four in the CYOA, you cannot make choices. If you wish to have a say in how things go, you can always join the CYOA planning group (look in the right margin of the page for the link) and you can share your ideas with me.

Caleb: You can either use Tentacool or Shellder bait, and hope to catch either Pokemon.

D: You can either keep the Weedle the Old Man caught for you, or you can release it and try to find other means of obtaining a Pokemon.

Jaeger and Leon: Choose which Pokemon to throw your Pokeball at. You can choose the same Pokemon; if that is the case, I will flip a coin to decide who gets it.

D, Leon, and Jaeger, don't worry about not catching a Pokemon, everyone will end up with a suitable Pokemon by the next episode.

Thanks for viewing, let me know what you think!

Quoting Timmy Kid I like it very much! Man, I wish I could help with the choices... I know about the planning group, but I have a question: Are there requirements should I know before I read the rules? I really need to know, because sometimes there are requirements that aren't mentioned in the rules. This hasn't happened to me yet, but I never know. Please reply. Offer me to join the planning group to let me know that you replied to me. (Darn, I wish we could send ACTUAL messages, or the activity box... thing... would let you know if you were replied to! CURSE YOU, MOCPAGES, FOR NOT BEING MUCH OF A SOCIAL SITE!!! Either that, or Sean Kenney not thinking the user's needs might be. No offense, Sean!)
The only requirement to join the planning group is that you can't be an actual participant, there are some spoilers that may affect their choices. I'll send you an invite straightaway. :)

I really like this so far. It's great that you're only including Generation 1 Pokmon in it. Although I would've loved to see Scizor =) Then again, Scyther's evolution process wouldn't really be easy to put in a story, since it involves trading and all.

Quoting Stormbringer . Oh man, what an amazing adventure so far! It keeps getting better in both story and scenery. I lol'd when you included that Old Man with his irritating but helpful catching methods. Hehehe... What a steal! Also great effects for attacks.
Thanks! I'm just getting acquainted with GIMP, so the effects should continue to get better. Also, you need to choose which Pokemon you're going after.
Quoting crash 703 Nice episode! Mmm...gumball wrapped in bacon...I do want to point out one little fact that scyther does evolve into scizor.
Not in generation one, which is where this CYOA takes place. Scizor might be fun to make though, even if he doesn't make an appearance in the story.

Awesome! I love it! Although I wish Cody weren't a bum. :D Anyway, Tentacool bait all the way, a Poison/water type is perfect for if fighting Grass or Fire types without Charmander! :D

If I was Jaeger/Leon, I'd totally choose scyther. It's good enough by itself and it would be BEASTLY if it evolves into some technician+bullet punch scizor.
