Dactyl
A deadly force from Grimm's army.
About this creation
This is my entry for A Saber-Scorpion Grimm vehicle design contest.
The Dactyl was originally a prototype Victorian stealth fighter (hence the somewhat V-shaped wings). It was stolen by Bill Raskov, one of Victory's test pilots. He had always dreamed of being a mercenary, and finally got fed up with his boss, so he stole the prototype fighter and joined Grimm's army. The Dactyl has four Blazer machine guns, two on each wing. Two are mounted under the wings, two above. Underneath the cockpit is a medium laser cannon, useful for shield penetration on enemy fighters. In the view of the top you can see the power feed to the laser. On the underside are eight air-to-air rockets. These were added on by Grimm's army for extra firepower. The two large green missisles on top are mostly used against enemy capitol ships, or against buildings. Propelling the Dactyl are four main engines, along with two smaller manuevering thrusters. There are also two thrusters on the underside, allowing the Dactyl to hover, which can be seen in the shot of the bottom. You can also see the landing gear. The cockpit is very roomy, and provides a superb view, as even parts of the floor are transparent.

In many ways this ship should have done better. It's got some real Grimmy ideas behind it. The Victorian origins, the painted-on eyes... If only it had looked slightly more "used" I think it might have performed better in the contest. Ah well, it's still very nice. The underside is the best part, especially those weapons. Destruction!

excellent, i like it very much. I am amazed how huge Saber Scorpion is now, since he used to be so much less popular. Great details on the ship. I also have that Cockpit that you used for your ship.
