BSG: The Return To New Caprica Part 2
The Battlestar Galactica and Rebel Cylon Baseship in orbit around the planet known as New Caprica.
About this creation
After arriving at New Caprica, Parrington Levopolis, CEO and Founder of the G.A.I.A. reviews the preliminary footage from the planet Kobol aboard the Rebel Cylon Baseship.
Chrissy Phipson, his Executive Assistant, briefs him on her experience while on the surface.

Levopolis: "So, this is all there is? Just a bunch of Ruins? Boooorrrrriiiing..."

Phipson: "Well, Sir, a great deal of time has passed. We're actually lucky that there's any evidence of their civilization at all. Kobol has had minimal geologic activity, and erosion has not been of much significance."

Levopolis: "Did you at least get the accident that killed what's his name?"
Phipson: "Now that's another issue, Mr. Levopolis. There wasn't actually an accident per se..."

Levopolis: "What's THAT supposed to mean, exactly?"
Phipson: "Well, as it turns out, Sir, several Cylon Centurions remarkably survived all of that time, and..."

Levopolis: "What?! Are you kidding?!? Why wasn't I informed of this? Did we get any of it?!"
Phipson: "Well, Sir, no. It all happened at night and..."

Levopolis: "Fraking wonderful! We came all this way, and miss the best part of the entire mission! Our man gets shredded like a pulled pork sandwich, and we don't get to see any of it! From now on, I need to be involved in person! You understand?!"
Phipson: "Yes, Sir."

CMDR L. Barto enters the Pilots' Briefing Room aboard the Galactica.
Pilot: "Commander On Deck!"

Pilots: "Sir!"

Maverick: "As you were..."

Mav: "First off, excellent work on the mission this morning. Congratulations to all who participated!"

Pilots: "Wahoo!"

Mav: "Okay, don't get cocky. We got the jump on them for sure, but that won't be the last of these kind of skirmishes, you can bet on it!"

Lt Denise Price, call sign Grumpy: "Sir, what were they exactly? From the looks of them, they were some sort of blend between Colonial and Cylon technology?"

Mav: "Well, that brings me to my next subject. We're going to go back and see what we can find in the wreckage. And since we probably won't be able to bring much of anything back to Galactica, we're going to need to get the right people out there. Three Raptors. Lt Commander King will be with us as the official Cylon Expert, and Levopolis will be along for the ride, too, imaging the debris."

Pilots: "Hey now!" Whistles, grunting.

Mav: "Settle down you goons, none of his associates will be with him as far as I know, so forget about getting any autographs. Anyway, we need his holographic technology to map out all the major pieces, and see if we can virtually reconstruct them without having to pressurize the whole landing bay to find out what those things were."

Mav: "Getting back to this morning's battle, let's bring up some of the gun camera footage off the Vipers....Uh...?"

Lt. Kevin Moodster, call sign Strummer: "Sorry Commander, we were just doing a little research on Mr. Levopolis, and, you see..."

Mav: "This is the Pilot's Ready Room, not a movie theater! Wait a sec, I don't think I've seen this one?"

Strummer: "It's a good one, Sir! You see, he's a Pharaoh, and, those girls..."

Mav: "Okay, that's enough research for now, back to business. As I was saying..."

Raptor Transport, from the Rebel Cylon Baseship to Galactica .
Pilot: "Galactica, Raptor 409, Mag lock engaged."
Comm: "Welcome aboard, 409. I trust our guests had a comfy ride?"
Pilot: "Roger that Galactica."

Marines prepare for the passengers' arrival. The hangar deck crew positions the Raptor.

Marine: "Welcome aboard, Mr. Levopolis."

Lt Kuo: "Something about that guy just gives me the creeps..."
Mav: "Wha?"

Marine: "Ms. Phipson."

Mav: "No one said SHE was coming?"
Kuo: "Hmpf!"

Levopolis: "Well, don't just stand around with your mouths open, get the equipment! We have a job to do!"
Marine: "Yes, Sir!"

Marine: "Let me help you there, Ms Phipson..."
Levopoplis: "Okay, okay, let's get moving!"

Raptors depart Galactica for the debris field. Mission: Examine and image the hostile wreckage for technical details and indications of origin.

Kat: "Galactica, Raptor 269, we're now approaching the debris field."
CIC: "Raptor 269, Galactica, Roger that Kat. Watch yourselves out there."

Raptor 925
Lt. Price: "Alright CMDR King, you're on the line. Take your time, Sir."
CMDR King: "This isn't what I signed up for, you know, going out here freestyle and all. I'm an engineer, not a Tether ball!"

King: "Turns out eating that second cheese steak wasn't such a smart idea..."

Raptor 269
Bones: "Okay Mr. L. we've got you all hooked up and ready for a stroll. Now, if you get disoriented, all you need to do is..."
Levopolis: "I've done space walks before, young man, and it's Mr. Levopolis or Mr. Chairman."

Levopolis: "There appear to be some continuing power discharges."

Bones: "Take your time, I'll keep an eye out for anything heading your way, Mr. Levopolis, Sir."

Levopolis: "No need for sarcasm. There are a lot of damaged components here, it's going to be complicated to piece these back together. Engines, weapons systems. Wait, what on Earth?"

Levopolis: "Something else is here in the tangled mess, but I..."

Bones: "What is it, Sir? What do you see?"

Levopolis: "There's a glowing red dot...It's starting to move toward me..."

Bones: "Hold on Levopolis, I'm realing you back in..."
Static

Bones: "Whatever it was, it just jumped away!"

Bones: "Kat, we've lost him!"

Quoting Tom Simon Well, the tether ball line puts you in the Star Trek camp. Might not want to type cast yourself that way if you want Levopolis to take note of your writing/directing talents. And no, I don't think you have a shot at acting for Levopolis. The guys get paid jack anyway.
I try and draw inspirational one liners from a variety of shows and movies, from Trek to Predator, and naturally from BSG. Don't the guys just work for free?

Quoting Mike C You kill me with these episodes. Love them to death. You amaze me with all the details you put into your scenes. Do you have them all warehoused or do you build upon the scene need?. Either way it's awesome.
Excellent question! Okay, so, for this episode, I built the Pilots' Briefing Room, that was big, and the screen for Levopolis' quarters, the Cylon thing, and the wreckage. I had to take new pics with Levo and the Raptor. I had taken the shots in the Hangar Deck a while back, figuring I'd need a grand entrance sometime. Most of the major sets I keep in a big closet, and get them out when needed. But like a TV show, I guess, I've got lots of stock pics that I can splice together for all sorts of scenes. Once I write the script, I figure out all the shots I need, sometimes having to go back and get more angles for interest. It takes a fair amount of organization. Thanks for the comment!

Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy It is a fantastic saturday morning when it starts with a new episode of El Barto's BSG. I really enjoy how you play with the depth of field to tell the story (the parts where Levopolis and Ms. Phipson arrive on the hangar deck). In the debris field, there are some shots with Levopolis that reminds me a bit of the slightly more colourful style Parrington uses for his post production work. Was it intentional or subconcious? Needless to say I loved the humorous part in the briefing room.
I suppose the depth-of-field thing helps to make the set appear to be more life-size scale than Lego scale, right? Lucky the camera takes care of that for me! As far as the colored shots, I had my LLBean headlamp on inferred for those pics. I liked how it reflected off the visor. And I hope the censors don't come after me over the Pharaoh pics, huh, huh huh...Thanks again for the thoughtful comment!

The scenes are just, well, way better than Babylon 5 now, and that was a TV show! The sets are great as always, and I really loved the way you applied the vid screens in the background of that podium. It just looks magical. A truly entertaining creation ElBarto, and I thankyou for it. It looks like my alter ego is very bit as creepy as Baltar was, love it. What is it with us mediteranean folk being so naturally sleazy looking? lol... (Loved your miss's reaction to Chrissy Phipson arriving! Gold!) Now please let me have been captured by Afro Cylons chiks who live in a Greek temple. Wait, oops, that's my fantasy story arc, nope, I can't wait to see where this ends up Chief. This is a perfect 10!
Kind word are always appreciated! I thought the vid screens turned out well, too, with the dark interior sets and the glowing pics which were all originally daylight shots. As far as Levo goes, he may not end up being the villain that he appears to be, again, like Baltar. Who knows what he's in for, I certainly don't! Regarding his captors, I'll see what I can do...Thanks again, Dude!
