ALLOY STRIKE: Penguins in action
This is my entry for ALLOY STRIKE contest in Metal Legion Recruiting Command.
About this creation
Mission: Same as above, but the fast moving and stealthy Metal Militia has
been given a special task. While the local Metal Garrison moves to destroy
the aggressor patrol base, your Metal Militia Squad must discover the identity
of the aggressor. Capture an officer form the aggressor force, and bring him
un-hurt to the nearest Metal Legion base for identification and processing.

Report (written by Skipper):
"After Kowalski finnaly found one of enemy's bases, we had everything we
need to go to action. Unforunately, we discovered base has some good protection,
so we needed more troops. Then, Penguin Squad creator, Hrvoje
Hedžet and one of our friends (Mort) jumped into action.

Our Militia still doesn't have vehicles, so we had to choose carefully what to buy.
We have already spent half of our resources for this year on two vehicles.
We bought one of old models of hover cargo ships and rearranged it a bit.
We throw out most of the things and added four seats. Also, Kowalski
made great JetCopter (official name: ML Wasp-Class Hybrid) with
help of some ML experts. Wasp Class Hybrid was driven by Commander Hedžet
and cargo ship by Kowalski. Quoting Kowalski: "It's most vulnerable on the inside."

Once we were ready, we jumped into action. Their base was placed near
little city on coast, named Novi Vinodolski. After an hour of flying
we finnaly saw the base, but we decided to come in from sea, so we
have made a small circle around the base, went to west, turned around and
went to the base. Kowalski landed our cargo ship, whose poisonous gases
whitened out grass around engines of the ship, and opened
the doors on both sides. We ran out ready for battle, hoping
to see some lazor bolts, but all we found was low fence and some
kind of hangar and land-to-air missile firing thingy behind it.

First we thought fence had some kind of electromagnetic shield.
Private thrown a rock to it. Rock just passed through, but suddenly
alarms went off. Quoting myself (Skipper): "Sensors on low fences, ha.
Well, there's no turning back now, and FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!
Bring the metal, boys." Two guys in white suits came out of the hangar
and soon their commander (also commander of the base), but on the mech. Quoting myself again:
"That's the target boys!". Commander Hedžet blew the mech up with his
JetCopter and commander fell on the ground few meters away
from his mech - now just a burning pile of pieces and ashes.
Quoting Rico: "KA-BLAMO!" Then me and Mort jumped in, when
Kowalski finnaly closed the doors of cargo ship. Land-to-air missile
firing thingy fired a missile towards Commander Hedžet's aircraft, but
as it seemed, that was missile with heat sensors, since after a few moments
it crashed into the remains of, now completely burned, mech. Mort
already had his gun turned to their commander's mech.
Quoting Mort: "One more move and I will blow you head off!"
Soon we shocked the other guys, since we decided to do this
without any victims. None of our men got injured in this operation
and I'm really proud. We kidnapped the commander of the base although
he said he's not going to tell us anything. He thinks we can't break him.
ROFL! Rico can break anyone.
Again, thanks to creator of Penguins, Hrvoje Hedžet, and our friend Mort
for helping out.

Enough of talking, here's the entry.

I really like this angle.

Characters used in this MOC.

From left to right: Skipper, Private, Kowalski, Rico, Mort, Hrvoje

The guy in the middle is commander.

Also, few months ago I have discovered this cool techique, and I don't remember I have
seen it anywhere before. I'm sorry if someone used it already.

There's no gaps and it holds everything tight. Of course, you can use double
cheese slopes for even better structure, but you can't use them with some kinds
of slopes and 1-wide bricks. I hope you find it helpful.

I will post more pictures of vehicles and more informations on my Flickr on Thursday.
Some of them will be photoshopped, so if someone wants to see them and their functions,
go to my Flickr around 21:00 CET (Central European Time Zone).
Link to it is on my homepage. ;)

In case there are any mystakes in text, that's just a mistake. Text was originally written in Notepad and c/p-ed here, so that's why some sentences are broken in more than
two rows. ;)

Hope you like it!
Please C&C!

C&C: Let's start by what I liked: The "Penguins in action" title is conveyed well through the (a bit) inclined JetCopter and the havoc in the battlefield. The tiles near the turret are also nice. The rocks are great too. The cargo ship is awesome. I like the building. What I didn't like: Not enough rubble and smoke. Try to add random bits of dark bley next time. In this picture: I'd add more black tiles around the barrier or make the jumper plates dark bley. Great entry, Commander Hedzet.

What a great entry, and possibly the final one of the contest. There is certainly plenty of fiery action going on. Best of luck in the contest, and I'm looking forward to your next build. Way to bring the Metal!

Quoting Ben (Flare) . Very nice! Good entry, although I think that the landscaping could use a little more work. BTW, I've always wondered, how do you prounounce your name? (sorry but three consonants in a row always gets me!)
Just Hrvoje. You read h like h in 'hot', not eich, r like r 'run', note are, v like v in 'voltage', not we, o like o in 'onto', not like ou, j like j in 'Jehova', not like in John and e like e in 'epic', not like ei. Hrvoje.

Quoting Freeling ++ Nice! And if you have the time would you mind commenting on this??
I don't mind, but please read my homepage. ;)

Commander Hedžet. Yes! Fire, chaos, and MORE penguins! That guy goes into combat with his fro sticking out? Right on! Great pics, and a great story as well. The cargo ship is quite interesting. I also liked the missile in flight. The explanation that the fire had been a huge mec only a few seconds before makes me sorry we “Got to the battle” so late. Well done! Glad you got this posted in time! Now the hard part begins: choosing a winner. Attack!
