The loss of the Daphne was a stunning blow to the Fleets of G.A.I.A. Such an unexpected loss. But sometimes sacrifice is necesary, especially if it leads to victory. All hail GAIA!
About this creation

Built as a replacement by the ESC, the Midnight Reverie was formally presented to Emperor Phillip III at the signing of the Defiant Justice Contract, named so in honor of the surviving crew of the ship whose actions had the unintended consequences of bring G.A.I.A. new allies into the fight against the Draggonne.

The design is markedly GAIA influenced, though the ESC research and development team were kind enough to hide valuable treasure within its design. One such mark of their influence were the massively enhanced engines. Unlike its predecessor, it has only two such engine arrays, but they have been massively redesigned for efficiency. They do not possess any critical ESC technology however.

Seeing that GAIA preferred projectile weapons, the R and D teams had great pleasure designing the Midnight Reverie's main cannon batteries, going all out, but again, not applying any vital ESC technology to the ship. These cannons have an enormous damage ratio, and can even pierce a single layer of laminate armor with a single round.

Another such gem are the hidden torpedo launchers located within the side armor paneling. These torpedos are set up with a unique rapid fire magizine, which can fire off torpedos at a rate of 12 per minute. For torpedo launchers, that's very fast. Even the dreaded Kystil class Torpedo Cruisers require large numbers of launch tubes to pull that feat off.

When ESC recovery teams went in to salvage what they could of the Daphne, and to rescue possible survivors, they did manage to salvage working data on many of the key systems, including the wormhole drives and the communications system. While vastly different from the ESC's tachyon based technologies, they were easily restored. Unfortunately, the Daphne's power source was not found, as it had been destroyed.

This is a view of the inside of a ship board Resonance Core.
The Midnight Reverie is the only ship to ever be produced, that had shipboard Resonance Powercells, that was not exclusively used by the ESC Security Forces. It can only be maintained by authorized ESC technicians and a full 10 man team will serve on the Midnight Reverie to maintain the power system. It was made very clear to the Emperor that if anyone unauthorized attempted to access and/or tamper with the Resonance Core, that the system would be rendered inoperable and it would be considered a breach of the Defiant Justice Contract.

Later on, the Midnight Reverie would serve as a primary carrier of the Samhain Edge "Olympic Fire" fighters that would be developed jointly by the ESC and GAIA. This ship can carry a massive 150 fighters, which by GAIA standards is about average. When it was presented to the Emperor, however, the massive hanger was empty, as the R and D teams did not have enough time to reverse engineer the fighters that had been aboard the Daphne, nor did they find sufficient debris for a full reconstruction.
CULTURAL NOTE:
The Midnight Reverie was built as the Shipyards at Dyska, but its construction was so massive that they literally had to build a new ship berth just to accomadate its construction. In addition, the Midnight Reverie took an eternity in comparison to standard ESC ships, a massive six months to build it when the Shipyards can roll Geneva Class destroyers off every month from each berth.

I see you have caught fleet fever! Looking great!
Not really. I've been terminally diagnosed with Fleet Fever. I just happen to be having an episode of it. *cough* I'll be fine though. |

It looks like the Draggone have met their match in both the real pieces universe, and the LDD universe! Hehe, great design dude, it is harder to go bigger in LDD, and I imagine this one was a tricky affair. Worth it. It looks great, totally the theme, and I love the underbody section in particular.
Long live GAIA!!!
Thanks. Glad you like it. It really wasn't all that difficult, as I have just about fully adapted to LDD by now. I have a few more things up my sleeve, so stay tuned!

Pretty nice ship! The design reminds me of the cruisers from Freespace game. I might build a ship sometime just for fun but that'll probably be a Homeworld themed ship. (I'm also big fan of Homeworld games xd) |

Ahhh, another great combination of G.A.I.A. and ESC design! Very well done, nice cannons. Engineering looks cool, too. How does the resonance drive work? ~Greetings, Marc
Actually, The Resonance Core does not power the engines, though in ESC design, it is involved. The Resonance Powercells are a sort of perpetual power supply. They can power any electronics indefinitely. For space use, the cores, since each engine is designed with one integrated, are used to 'excite' the coolant fuel that is used, which make it more volitile and produce far more energy than if it were burnt without being resonated. In the Midnight Reverie, it is purely designed to power the electrical systems, which is why there is only one. Very good question. |

Very well done, I love the shaping and those cannons are gorgeous!
Yeah, I liked the shaping as well. Believe it or not, this one grew from me toying with two pieces. Ah well, oak trees from acrons, I guess. |
