I Choose You! Episode 5 (A Pokemon CYOA)
Previously on I Choose You!, Jaeger and D decided to head up to Mt. Moon in search of a Team Rocket Hideout and the hope of finding their stolen Pokemon. Caleb and Leon have done likewise, except they decided to follow another clue leading to a Rocket hideout located on an island near Pallet Town. Now that each trainer has a new Pokemon and an attitude for justice, Team Rocket had better watch out! Thus our story continues...
About this creation
The text is located beneath the corresponding photo. Main Photo Revamp by crash 703.

Leon heads back from Pewter city, his new Eevee by his side. The journey back to the coast is easy compared to the open waters, especially since Leon has no boat and no water Pokemon.

Leon: A surf shop! Maybe I can get a boat here.

Dave: Welcome, dude! Looking for some diving equipment?

Leon: Actually, I need a boat, or even a surfboard. I need to find an island off the coast. It's very urgent.

Dave: Dude, you're the third person this week wanting to go to that island. Are you a Team Rocket member?
Leon: No, they stole my Seel from me, and I'm going to get it back.
Dave: Sorry dude, but I'm all out of seaworthy vessels. And there isn't enough oxygen in a scuba tank to get you all the way to that island. I have some rafts on order, they should be here in a few days.
Leon: But I need to get there now!

Dave: Tell you what, man. You seem like someone who can play by the rules. If you can beat my two weaker Pokemon, then I'll let you surf on my Kingler. Deal?
Leon: Are you serious? Fine, let's do this.

Leon and Dave go into the street to battle.

Dave: Go, Magikarp!
Leon: Go, Eevee!

Leon: Eevee, headbutt!
Dave: Flail, Magikarp!

The two Pokemon leap into the air, both on the offensive.

Eevee, being the only land Pokemon, has the advantage and uses his superior speed to land the first hit, a powerful headbutt. Magikarp buckles under the attack.

Dave: Magikarp, return! Gotta get my a Gyarados one day...
Leon: All right, Eevee!

Dave: Go, Shellder!

The Pokemon face off, Eevee isn't sure what to make of the strange new Pokemon.

Eevee uses a Tail Whip attack, but Shellder's shell proves to be too strong, and the attack does very little.

Shellder returns the assault with a stream of bubbles, which knock Eevee to the ground.

Leon: Eevee, that shell is too strong for your physical attacks! Get that Shellder with a sand attack!

Eevee leaps from the sidewalk and onto the beach, kicking up sand into Shellder's vulnerable insides. The tiny grains of sand penetrate easily and blind Shellder.

Dave: Return, Shellder!

Dave: Well, you did it. You beat me fair and square. You've got some pretty good strategies, dude.
Leon: Thanks!

Dave: Let's go down to the beach and I'll take you to that island.
Leon: Sounds great, thanks!

Leon: Woo hoo, I'm on a Kingler!
Dave, Leon, and Kingler head off to the Team Rocket hideout, ready for anything. Danger and adventure surely await!

Meanwhile...

D: There it is, Mt. Moon.
Jaeger: That's not too far, hopefully our Pokemon are there.

D: Wow, it's really dark in here!
Jaeger: Look, a ladder! I'll bet Team Rocket is on the other side.

D and Jaeger climb up the ladder, taking care to be silent and stealthy.

The trainers peek through the hole, and are surprised at what they see. This operation is bigger than they expected.

Two guards stand in a dim, industrial-lit hallway with a heavy, mechanical door at the end. They appear distracted.

Rocket Grunts: Rock, paper, scissors! Both rock again? Seriously?

Rocket Grunt 1: So, how does this door work again?
Grunt 2: It's a Riddle Lock. It's a six-digit code that changes every time, and you have to be clever enough to solve the puzzle to gain entry. Or you could just radio the security room, those riddles are too tough.
Grunt 1: It's not like we have anything better to do up here though. I'm bored and exhausted from standing so long. The least they could do is give us some chairs.

The idle conversation continues, while D and Jaeger come up with a plan.

Meanwhile...

Caleb has arrived at the island, and has caught up to the Grunt he saw earlier. He is accompanied by some sort of scientist near a secret entrance off the beach.

Grunt: All I'm saying is that we do all the hard work around here, and we don't even have a break room. You guys just sit around and play computer games all day, and the boss thinks you're the best thing since sliced bread!
Scientist: They're not games, you twit! It's important research for the future of Team Rocket!

Grunt: Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's the riddle on this lock?
Scientist: It's a card key lock, you neanderthal! Here, step aside.

Grunt: See, you guys even have card keys, we don't get anything cool!
The scientist slides his card through the slot, and the door clicks.
Scientist: That's because you're all dopey. Us scientists actually contribute to Team Rocket. The boss rewards contributors.

Scientist: Now less talk and more walk! We need to get these Pokemon to the lab straightaway.
Grunt: This is so not worth ten bucks an hour...

Caleb watches carefully, planning his next move.

Since Leon was the only one who got to choose last time, only the other three participants get to make choices this time. Remember, if you're not in the CYOA, you cannot make choices. However, join the CYOA planning group (link in the right margin) if you want to help me write the episodes.

D and Jaeger: You have plenty of time to discover the code. There don't seem to be any cameras or other forms of security besides those two guards. You can:

a)Begin a Pokemon battle in the hallway to defeat the guards (dangerous, loud)
b)Send out your Pokemon quietly to take out the distracted guards without a fight (dangerous)
c)Wait and see if the guards reveal a code for the door so you don't have to solve any riddle

If either of you choose the loud choice, it will foil the others' choice and override it. You're a team, so keep that in mind, but also remember to do what you feel is best.

Caleb: There isn't much time, the two Rocket members are entering a solid door that has a key operated lock. You have to act quickly. You can:

a) Chase down the Rocket members, battle them, and see if any of the Pokeballs contain Charmander (dangerous)
b) Sneak in after the Rocket members before the door closes, and infiltrate the hideout quietly (dangerous)
c) Wait and see if anyone else comes by with a key

Thanks for viewing, let me know what you think, and be sure to join the planning group!

Quoting Shadow Master X Hey, can you tell me how to get those special effects? I was hoping I could use some for my own CYOA, having to make every move out of legos is tough.
I use GIMP for my effects. Areesta has some good tutorials on MOCpages, and I think his tutorials have a link for a GIMP download.

Sorry I'm late! I too would go with (B). Scyther can easily take out the guards without no problem,. Plus Bulbasaur might be able to use stun spore or sleep powder?

Quoting Chopperskull (Luja) i like how this story also is like a game where the ppl have to choose. Gotta make a bionicle story like this!
I've been waiting for somebody to do that, we have enough Pokemon CYOAs already. Bionicle CYOAs would be pretty great.

Quoting Doc. Jared (doing exams) Awesome! That was a great episode. A few grammar mistakes, but overall awesome. I'm in suspense!
I see the one when Dave is talking about Gyarados, I'll fix that right away, and do some more proofreading as I go.
Quoting The Lego Obsessionist Those water pokemon are new, right! You did a great job on them. The use of the geisha fan is fantastic. This pokemon saga is geting more and more interesting!
Magikarp is new, but Shellder was made a while ago. Pokemon Compilation 7, I believe.
Quoting Aidan Bryant Great stuff Cody! A little nit pick, Magikarp couldn't learn flail in gen 1, and in gen 2, it couldn't learn it till level 30, 10 levels after he can evolve. Just saying.
Yeah, good point. But using splash in a supposedly exciting CYOA would be even worse. Thanks for the tip though, you're very knowledgeable about Pokemon for an AFOL! :)

Quoting Callan Lord of Fire By the way, David was wondering if he might be able to make a minor appearance in this series. He doesn't mind if you can't, though. :D
His sig-fig might be a tiny bit off, as I don't have a lot of his pieces, but I'll try to improvise. :)
