S21 Sabre fighters were designed with endurance as the main aspect of the ship. The ships have earned respect from the pilots that fly them for bringing them home even when critically damaged.
Armament: 4 medium plasma cannons
2 quad-barrelled 'Inferno' missile launchers
Shields: Military grade 9 EMF/Ionic
Hull: 3-inch Titanium plating
Lightweight Tungsten coating
Warp Speed: 17/20
Other: Atmospheric turbulence stabilisers
Long range sensors
The vessel excels in the endurance roll, due to the multitude of factors. The shielding is one of the primary aspects, as it is possibly the most powerful shield system to date. If those were to fail, the hull would take a great deal of punishment before buckling.
The thin layer of tungsten on the hull is an ingenious idea, as tungsten is able to resist much higher temperatures, thus further increasing the resistance of this ship.
When faced with a large target, the innovative 'Inferno' missiles are the primary weapons. These missiles feature 1/2mg (milligram) of plutonium as well as 5kg of plasma explosive and 1kg of napalm. The initial explosive force is enough to cripple a smaller ship, and damage a larger ship. Prolonged damage is caused by the burning napalm.
The cloaking device has been perfected to remove the bluish sheen that plagued the shade fighters, and coupled with the sensors, a perfect ambush on enemy vessels is possible.
In the atmosphere of a planet, the fighter performs like a jet fighter. When faced with turbulence, the stabilisers on the front reduce the impact, or even fully counter the rough ride.
While the cockpit is fairly small, the pilot has an all around view of his/her surroundings.
The engines are only small, so only provide a maximum of 750kmh. However, this speed is better suited for targeting and destroying other ships.
A final departing shot of the current fleet. Notice that I've still got the Paragon.
I've built a fighter like this before now, and I liked it then, so I thought 'Why not rebuild it' just before I cleaned my lego away after a failed attempt at building another capital ship. In short, I salvaged my building session. Initially, the front section was going to be about 4-6 studs longer, but it looked too long, so the result is what you now see before you. I'll leave you to do whatever now.
Quoting Rabid Goldfish
Now that's a very nice snubfighter you got there. Great size for being based off a carrier too. Good weapon placements, nice hull design. Some tiling is all I can recommend. Great work! ^Blub^
You commented on this again?! And whaddaya mean 'some tiling is all I can recommend'?! THIS THING'S MOSTLY STUDLESS!!! O_o
