I have two loves in life; robots, and robots that turn into things. I find doing either vehicles or robots too simple for myself, so I try to have them be both. Fun challenge.
This is one of my more successful, I call him HardCase. Pictures still aren't great, but at least I have a sort of backdrop and better lighting.
About this creation
So here we are. I'll break down the transformation when it comes.
The vehicle is a type of APC with a large top mounted turret. I tried to get it as together yet detailed as possible. Turned out nice I think. I find it has good character to it, so I'm rather pleased.
And now we start the transformation. First we flip open the front cab, flip up the side windows, and the sides can be unlocked and pulled out as well.
The middle of the vehicle can be flipped upward and twisted around 180 degrees. Take the sides we flipped out earlier and begin folding them up into what will become legs/feet.
This is the "big reveal" of the transformation. That middle section can un-clip and unfurl into becoming the arms. Finish the leg/feet folding now. The gun from the vehicle can rotate and flip up and set in place as his left gun-hand.
The section that the side windows attached to can be angled and set into the chest as chest Armour. A tab at the back of the torso locks what was once the front of the vehicle into place as a backpack. Straighten out the legs and arms and we can stand him up.
The robot is very brawny with his wide as heck shoulders, he also stands solid and his reliance on ball/click joints makes him fun to pose.
Nice simple but effective head. Flatness was needed for transformation to work, though.
I rather like this pose. BANG BANG! See the main photo for another good stance
