And the winner for best collaboration is.......Lord of the Rings!
About this creation
With a great effort from over 15 people, the MOCpages Lord of the Rings collaboration took home the crown! Those involved include:
Myself
Chris Phipson
Mark Kelso
Kevin Walter
David Sterling
Anthony Dunne
Shannon Ocean
Dave Kaleta
Leda Kat
Lee Jones
Dennis Price
Mister Bones
Tyler Halliwell
Our supporting team members included:
Danette Jones
Dano Jones
Maddie Jones
Kelsie Price
Mrs. Price
George Kemper
Tyler's awesome Dad
Dave Xandagear
Johnny Xandagear
Stacy Sterling

First up is Mr. Dave Kaleta's gorgeous Rivendell build. He was kind enough to rage smash this in the end to make up for never facing him in the MOC Olympics. I'm still your Bane Batman! :P

Next up is Bree (?) You'll have to forgive me as I'm not good with the names of the buildings. The beautiful and talented Leda Kat really shined with this build and took home the best small building trophy for this rendition. Well done!

Hobbiton and the chase scene were both built by Tyler and his father at the last minute. Not only was it out of sheer boredom, but also because a collaborator never pulled through. I won't mention Sam Ellis' name, but I hope that nothing serious has happened to him......and if not he better have a damn good reason for standing us all up. As it is, Tyler and his Dad really helped pull this thing together!

Lee's impressive mines really left everyone speechless.....even myself! I think I will just let the pictures do the talking. As usual, he puts his skill where his mouth is and shows us all what can be possible with ungodly amounts of bley and grey!

Love those snow capped rocks!

Next up is Chris' tower of some building I don't know.....did I say that out loud?! LOL Yes, my LOTR lore is weak.....thankfully Chris had it handled and pulled out this magnificent phallic tower to overcompensate for his manhood. Well done my friend!

Shannon Ocean and Tyler whipped up the Ents. The variety was astounding!

Dennis whipped out this thingie. I don't know the name of it, but it looked excellent! Dennis almost beat Kevin and I when we did the Jameson Middle Earth tour. I told you the roof was solid enough Dennis! :P

Tyler's impressive build. Lee brought thousands of minfigs that populated various regions and builds on the map. I can't stress how much Tyler and his Dad were such a huge help this weekend. Not only did they help set-up, but they were like Tolkein encyclopedias.

Mark built the bottom of Minas Tirith while Chris built the upper half. Actually, WE built the bottom half, as Mark's stuff came smashed to bits. Mark also did the map that all of the pieces sat on top of. A beautiful job!

Shannon Ocean, Tyler, and George helped put this back together. Shannon was a tremendous help with putting the rock work together....without his assistance this build wouldn't have been the same!

Lee's massive armies wowed the fans, as they oooohed and ahhhhhhhhed their way around the table.

The ruins as built by Mister Bones. They literally came as ruins, and Dennis and Dave didn't seem to change much even if it did take them a few hours to "fix" it. LMAO

The Tower of the Witch King was built by Dave Sterling and featured glowing green base. It was awesome! In the background you can spy Leda, and Kevin mulling over Barud Dur.

The Black Gate that I built and took a few photos of. LOL

Mount Doom was built by Anthony Dunn and assisted by the Xandagears.

Leda, Shannon, and Kevin talk about the fundamentals of hydrating after a rough night at Brickworld.

Kevin's amazing Barad Dur!!!! This was rebuilt in two and a half days by Kevin. None of us could help because he added so many insane details! Not to mention he used every single brick he could find! LOL

And there you have it! As Lee has already pointed out, the biggest non-train collaborative really took the cake! It was such an amazing experience to be part of all of this! I am looking forward to stomping the competition again next year!
Oh yeah, we're already planning next year's.........until then, keep on drinking! I mean, building!

More excellent coverage of the ultimate alliance of super skilled builders! You got some of the nicest pictures of Rivendell I've seen. I know I've asked other people this, but how exactly did you guys put things that got completely wrecked in the mail back together? Did someone send instructions? Great job to everyone that participated in this!
Mark sent us some pictures of how to put the assembled pieces together....but they weren't intended to rebuild everything so lacked close-ups and such. We just did our best with what we had. Luckily, some of the other builders who had their stuff smashed were there and handled their own rebuilds (such as myself and Mr. Walter. |

Awesome pics Heath! You've really captured the layout brilliantly. Man this was awesome! I haven't even had the chance to sort through all my pics yet. Its sad to think that all these builds don't exist any more... but it was fun smashing them to bits. |

Nice wrap-up, Heath! Your pictures really turned out nice. I'm hoping mine are that good as I took a bunch, but won't have time to edit until this weekend. It was really fun being a part of this collaboration and everyone brought amazing builds. It was an honor to work with all of you. :-) |

Looks like you blew the competition right out of the water, and rightly so. There are some awesome drinks/builds in there. idea for next year: maybe you can build a hobbit train to connect all the places. Saves them a lot of time instead of going on foot anyway. |
