Letum was once a Toa of fire, and a powerful one at that. He lead a famous Toa team that kept the peace in their realm so well that no Makuta dared cross them. Among his team was a beautiful Toa of air and a handsome Toa of gold. Letum was madly in love with the Toa of air, but she chose the Toa of gold instead. Enraged by her choice, Letum traveled to a faraway cave where a powerful Makuta lived. He offered riches beyond imagination if the Makuta would use his power to drain the Toa of gold's power and channel it into Letum. Once that happened, Letum would be able to use his new power over gold to win the heart of the Toa of air. The Makuta betrayed Letum, however, and during the power transfer, the Makuta took for himself the power of gold, and also took Letum's power as a Toa, leaving him a beaten and weak Turaga. One thing that the Makuta didn't expect, though, was that Letum absorbed some of the Makuta's power over shadow, making him an elemental hybrid: a Turaga of ash.
Letum's empty stare sees not the present, but the past, when he was a proud Toa with good friends. Now, he is but a shell of his former self.
He carries a scythe and a small shield to fend off bandits, but he uses them for no heroic purpose. His apathy is too great for him to perform any acts of justice.
His red cape was fashioned out of his larger one that he wore as a Toa, as a reminder of who he once was.
Leg design. Nothing story-related here.

I guess he got to keep half of it, and maybe he got some fire in him from Letum. I didn't think it through very much, but maybe he just didn't survive the procedure. |
