About this creation

The engine. The radiator fan. Independent front suspension.

I build the car in about ten evenings. Seven of those to cope with the steering wheel. You can see the exhaust had to be smaller on that side. (By the way: hand of god steering didn't work out, but the steering wheel does it's job nicely)

The bottom. Here you can see the technics. Solid rear axle. Reverse-forward two shift gear box. Had a lot of thinking how the drive shaft should go over the gearwheels for the steering.

The engine again. Build in a bit to the rear. If I've build it over the suspension, the engine was to high, so solution as you see now.

The body hasn't completely worked out as I wanted. I have a whole lot of black bricks, but maybe it could be better.

My four year old son plays with this car (and doesn't destroy it, I mad it strong. You can notice the part where one can attach a trailer.

Thanks for you comments!

...thanks Joost that means a lot. Using iphone so short message. The Enzo set would be a perfect base for p68. I have the fxx version. I might reduce my gt40 slightly and use same size wheels as you. Currently using 49.6 x 28 @ 18 wide, (the top is 17 wide plus two plates on each side). No space for working engines but opening features and steering still possible. Big enough wheel arches will be a problem with both models. I wish I had the pieces you need To complete your mehari. I have them in dark green and would send them to you if would consider colour change Haha. Thanks again my friend :).

Hi joost. Did you get me comment below? My gt40 is going from bad to worse. I think I might scrap it :(. I will post pictures but I have lost inspiration.

Hi Joost :) I can’t wait to see the trailer for this. Regarding your future P68 and my GT40 - Yes my GT40 will be built with studs facing sideways and on top. It will not be as pretty as others on this site (Firas’ et al). I would rather you design your P68 how ever you want. I would hate to think that I would 'force' you to build in any style. It is our team (not mine). The P68 is so low and curvy that I doubt that sideways studs would even be possible. Please please design it in your way; full stud, smooth, snotted, technic or even Duplo ;) hahahahaa. maybe not Duplo :). As long as it is Large scale (14 studs and wider) then it can be featured on the home page (as per group rules)

Hi Joost :) I absolutely love the Unimog. Bought it for £145 but also got £20 of gift vouchers to spend in the shop. It took me about 12 hours to sort and build (in 5 sessions). I finished it last night. I am extremely impressed with the strength of the chassis and suspension. Shame the steering is limited, but it looks like you could increase the steering lock by removing those 3/4 pins. The lack of power (torque) on the HOG device is the only major problem with the set. The pneumatics work perfectly and the power function gearbox is extremely clever, especially as the steering runs through it also. 8070 also has a similar gearbox. Does yours lean slightly to one side? The front axle is also slightly off centre. These are minor things, its definitely one of the best sets ever made. What are your favourites? I cant wait to see your Unimog trailer and new car. I am also using the parts from 8070 to build a new car. Hopefully Father Christmas will bring you a 8070. You better be a good boy ;)

Quoting Thomas Graafland Where did you get those transparant 'cilinderheads'?
These ones come from a 8386. I think more of the F1-models have the transparent engine-pieces. thx for the comment!

Thank you for you comments. I've looked again to your Rat rod. The time needed for perfection is no lost time! The elites section of the Rod club should really be an honour for me. Next question occures: Next project will be a V10 Dodge Ram. So not suited for the rod club, but a V10 wouldn't fit in the V8 club also...By any chance, do you have a spare group for this ? :-)
Quoting Ape Fight New comment as you've uploaded new pics! Love it; really good Technical features, as Nick says below. It's great to see proper Technic in a good looking MOC. 7 days on the steering would've surprised me until I built my Rat Rod - I spent a week on the front grill and steering too! Really nice build, and your new pics mean it can go in the Elite section of the Rod Club too : )

Hi. That's better more pics and description :) Always a challenge to build front engined cars with steering and suspension - You did a great job especially with a gearbox also!! Love the door lock too. I have only built one moc with 'new technic' but i am planning a few more soon. I also build my mocs strong enough for my kids to play with but they always push too hard on the hand of god device. Glad you like my F40 :)
