Model TDR-9M Thunderbolt from Battletech
About this creation
First produced in 2491, and originally classified as an assault mech, the 65-ton Thunderbolt remains a tough opponent on any battlefield. The 9M variant carries a Light Guass Rifle and an LRM-15 with two tons of ammunition as its primary weapons systems, making it a formidable, if slightly ammo dependadnt, long-range hitter. For close range, the 'mech is equiped with a trio of Extended Range Medium Lasers, mounted in the left torso. This variant is also equiped with jump jets, and has a jumping range of 120 meters (they're supposed to be on the legs, but I cheated and put them on the torso because I think it looks cooler; don't tell anyone). The 9m carries 12.5 tons of armor and has a top running speed of 64.8 km/h.

"stiff legs"
I originally tried to do this guy with ball joints in the hips and ankles, so I could pose it like one of the miniatures
http://www.camospecs.com/Miniature.asp?ID=1324
It was balanced, but it was too heavy for the joints. I almost made it work by putting tires around the sockets, but it wasn't quite enough. |

...redesign version. Not a complaint just an observation...The colors make me think Northwind Highlanders and I was wondering if you meant that deliberatly.
I've always like the resuplt version of the Thunderbolt more than the Unseen; I think it's the shoulders. The colors were just an excuse to order green bricks, I didn't want to do another grey mech (the black/dark red patch is meant to be an insignia for my lance, though :), and the exoforce joints in the shoulders limited my options for highlights. I suppose its kinda like a Northwind color scheme, but I think a tartan would be hard to pull off at this scale :P |

Most excellent model of a classic, but what else can be expected from you. I can tell from the cockpit placement you went with the redesign version. Not a complaint just an observation, redesigns are fair game as well. The colors make me think Northwind Highlanders and I was wondering if you meant that deliberatly. I would greatly appreciate your feed back on my own Battletech creations. |

Very cool! That's teh best mech I've seen in a long time now. I suggest you to join Metal Legion or Metal Legion Recruiting Command (both groups on MOCpages). There are great builders there, but mech master is something that I don't believe ML has - yet. ;) |

I know nothing about Battletech's world but I really like this one. The choice of the green color was challenging but the result is awesome! And it's unusual. I first found it a kind of "stiff legs" but I got it when I saw the hinges you used for the ankles: Tough work indeed!
Great job!! |

Awesome and instantly recognizable mech! I love the color and parts usage. I think I may have to steal...er...borrow that hand/finger design. My only SLIGHT nit pick would be that the legs should be a couple plates wider to be more proportionate with the upper body. GReat work! |

I'm amazed that you were able to find enough green parts to actually make something this nice with them. Awesome work on this! |

It's good to see an actual Mech from the Battletech universe. So many details, it's very accurate! Good job. |
