Hello everyone! And welcome to Orthanc! This is your host Ian Spacek. Seeing as we have just finished "LOTR Trilogy Contest" number two: "Two Towers" (that's a mouthful), I thought it only fitting that the winners should be announced...well...on one of the Two Towers!
About this creation

Before I go any further, I'd just like to say to all the contestants: JOB WELL DONE! Almost all of you had improved scores since last time (Fellowship of the Ring). And it was a very tight race for the winning places, so tight in fact that we have a tie for third place! So everyone pat yourselves on the back! Our first third place winner is...

Christopher Baldacci! For his entry: "Shelobs Lair"

Well done Chris! *shakes hand*

Our other third place winner is...that's right he's back! The Fisherman! For his entry: "The Bombing of Helms Deep"

Congratulations sir! *shakes hand*

In second place we have...

The Grey Man! For his entry: "The Crossroads" Very well done! *shakes hand*

And now lady's and gentlemen (or just gentlemen) the moment we've all been waiting for. The first place winner; the Ring-Bearer! This contest's Ring-Bearer award goes to...

Max Pointner! For his utterly fantastic and brilliant entry: "The stairs of Cirith Ungol" Great job buddy! (I've known Max for a long time) Max and I were actually in a play of "The Hobbit" together. I got cast as Thorin Oakenshield and he was Gollum, so I'm slightly hesitant to give him the Ring. Oh well, at least he'll be happy. Sshhhhh! Don't tell him it's not the real preciousss...haha, well done Max! *shakes hand*

Now how about a round of applause for our winners! Nice work guys!

Here is a picture of the build minus the Mini-figs and seating arrangements. This creation depicts the top of the tower Orthanc, in which the wizard Sarumon dwells. (Oh dear, it's not 8x8!!!)

Closing notes: Well that concludes the second "LOTR Trilogy Contest", The Two Towers, leaving only one more to go. The third 8x8 contest, The Return of the King, is now open for entries (be sure to read the group rules before building). If you are interested in judging for the upcoming contest please write in topic: "Judges #3" on the group homepage. Special thanks to Michael Kringe, Aidan Moon, Mark Murphy, and Lee Muzzy for judging in this past contest! Round of applause for the judges! Thanks again everyone and hopefully I will see you in the final 8x8 contest: "The Return of the King"
Ian

Quoting Senator Lott Dod
the words under the pictures seem to have vanished mysteriously. I was looking forward to see who won but i could not tell just from the siggfigs. Nice build by the way, clean and studless.
The words are coming. Sorry I was having some computer trouble and I'm kind of busy right now. Yeah and I'm a huge fan of "studless" builds, almost all of mine are. |
