Yes, I am building the Tower of Cirith Ungol. Yay! But I'm planning to remove the interior to save bricks (and in doing so, saving money and my precious summer time!)
About this creation
Well as you hopefully read above, I am going to demolish the interior. :( Well, here are some pics of how it's going so far, plus some updates on Hogwarts.
Shagrat and Gorbag leave Cirith Ungol, passing by the Silent Watchers.
One of the Watchers... that watch! ;)
I couldn't get a good look with the three bodies and one head, so I decided to make a more gargoyle-looking thingy. :P
I just wanted to make some more Lord of the Rings figs. A ranger and some soldiers from Minas Tirith. Ranger decal courtesy of this guy.
I got a bunch of these black grill bricks at PaB at the LEGO store in the Mall of America last summer, and decided to throw a few in to give some texture to the walls.
An orc sentry watches Shagrat and Gorbag depart.
I found my only elf helm and sword from Brickforge and decided to whip up an elf.
An overview of the interior of the first level. There is a bar, a jail, a kitchen, a larder, a storage room, and a spiral staircase. Not verbatim from the book but... He does say there are "rooms" off the hallway. :P
I really like the rock.
I don't like this rock as much. I was running out of 2 by X dark gray/bley bricks.
The bar, kitchen, and larder. The kitchen has a cool removable roof thing... :P
...and here that is demonstrated.
The details of the arches in the kitchen roof.
The larder thing. They keep their turkeys on the floor.
The actual bar! Complete with classy bartender and beer taps.
I had the idea for this last summer, and it sat in my head taunting me all school year. I really think it turned out well.
The kitchen! I guess they butcher their frogs alive in Mordor...
A blurry picture of an orc pimp. Hah.
The storage room!
A prisoner wakes up screaming from a nightmare.
A prisoner who died here. Don't know why he died in that position.
Sam passes by the Undergate and heads towards the stairs.
A very blurry picture of the spiral staircase that I really like. The staircase, I mean. I don't like the picture.
A guillotine I built. I didn't use it because it made the MOC look too crowded.
As you can see, a lot of notes and drawings went into this.
The floorplan for the first floor. (For you Brits out there that's the ground floor.
The bastion at the corner of the outer wall.
I'm about 2/3 of the way done "rough-sorting" my collection into basic groups. Once I'm done with this model I will complete the process then get serious on building Hogwarts.
That's all with Cirith Ungol for now.
Here are some pics of Hogwarts in the early stages:
Draft 3 of the floor plan after hours of research. I think this will serve me well.
The beginning of the base of the model. I'm beginning to think it may be too big... But we'll find out, won't we? :P
Hope you've enjoyed my little update, hope to see you guys soon.
