About this creation
I have kept the basic layout the same, most of the chasis is as-orignal, and of course I have fitted both the snowplow and the crane.

It is PF-ed throughout, separate M motors for the turntable; steering; and compressor. I have had to move the compressor and mount it horizontally to make some room.

The drive is from 2x XL motors, geared down in the ratio 21:4.

I think it looks awesome with the larger power-puller wheels. It took only minor alterations to the vehicle to fit these wheels.

The new portal axle parts can fit the 24z gears, giving 3:1 torque increase at the wheels. The PF XL motors cope easily with the weight of the vehicle.

A slight issue with the new parts: the 8z pinion gear is narrower than 1L and allows the u-joint to slide outwards slightly. This is enough for the differential-gears to slip off the half-axle and cause loss of drive.

Quoting Rabbitdesign MB Great moc. Which Lego set has the big wheels? Can you provide detail pic of the XL engines. I thought the set is to heavy to PF it.
Sorry, thought I kept a photo of the XL motor gearing but no. The drive-train is unmodified apart from the z24s in the portal hubs. I ran a 3:5 ratio (using the new gears) and a couple of z16s to drive the centre axle. Oh, the tyres are from 8466.

Quoting ThatRaC-legoGuy playing Ratchet and Clank brilliant, complexly brilliant. yet it has 3 comments? great idear to use PP wheels. how is it off road? and where did you get the 8110 set? an idear to fix the diff problem, would it be posible to put a cv joint the same as the one connecting the steering in side the portal axil frame where the end of the u-joint is? (I don't have these parts so I can't try it out)
I bought the set on Bricklink from a seller in Germany back in June (I was probably one of the first to get it in the UK). Offroad performance is limited by the differential problem, and I'm afraid a CV joint won't fit. A fix for Trial Trucks is just don't use a diff...

Wow. What a set! Must get one, along with those bigger wheels that transform it. Great work to motorize this beast.
