7/27/11 Apt Fire
About this creation

This fire on Clinton Ave in Downtown Jakeland rung in 2 alarms. First crews to arrive on scene were Engine 5 and Ladder 3. Ladder 3 was able to pull a victim to safety from the 2nd floor apartment, while Engine 5 stretched a hose up the fire escape and began an aggressive interior attack. The fire was knocked in under 15 minutes.

I have refrained from commenting on incidents for the past few months because there was a lot of sameness in them and in some cases the buildings were not that good looking. This is nothing against the creators of these incidents, after all we are here because we build fire apparatus and not necessarily buildings. Few people do both well. Thomas Dugan is one notable example. In fact, I like his fire houses more than his fire trucks. I have always liked your trucks and you use them well in this incident. You also have built a nice building, dressed it up very well for a working fire and taken good photos that you obviously edited and put some thought into. I am very impressed. You also get credit in my book for being the first builder I have seen to have his firefighters wearing a Nomex hood. That is a simple but overlooked detail that goes to one of the essential elements of modern firefighting turnout gear. Keep up the good work!

Awesome job as always Matt! It's good to see the JLFD gettin' some work. Great job on the fire escape. It gives it that inner-city, downtown urban look and feel to the incident.
