About this creation
Previously on Battlestar Galactica:
Kat: "Galactica, Raptor 269, we're now approaching the debris field."
CIC: "Raptor 269, Galactica, Roger that Kat. Watch yourselves out there."

Levopolis: "Wait, what on Earth?"

Bones: "Kat, we've lost him!"

Nempec: "Mav, prepare your team, I think it's time we paid our Chrome Plated pals over there a little visit."

Galactica Hangar Deck:
Maverick: "Alright, Team, looks like we're just about set for launch."

Mav: "Everybody knows the drill: We get the info the Skipper wants, and get the frak out of there. The Cylons aren't much for small talk, so we should be back in time for lunch."

Mav: "Bonsch, what's the ammo situation?"

PVT Bonsch: "We've got two packs of explosive rounds, one pack of grenades, Sir."

Mav: "Good. I'm not anticipating any problems with our Cylon pals, but it's best to be ready to light 'em up if need be. Any questions?"

Bones: "What's the plan as far as bringing the data back here, Sir?"

Mav: "King rigged up a laptop that should be able to handle the data, I already tossed it into the Raptor. Obviously we won't plug it into anything when we get back. The last thing we need are the coffee makers starting a rebellion. Kat will keep the FTL spun up while we're on our little excursion. Worst case scenario, we can just jump right out of their landing bay! Let's move!"

Team: "Yes, Sir!"

Lt. Kuo: "So, going to visit our buddies over there, eh?"

Mav: "Yeah, the Skipper wants to know what they know, maybe they saw something we didn't. That is if they're willing to share."

Kuo: "Well, ask politely, even chrome toasters appreciate manners, right?"
Mav: "Thanks! Should I bring a bottle of wine? How about a nice banana bread?"
Kuo: "Looks like they're ready, good hunting!"

Maverick and the team land and proceed to the Cylon CIC.
Mav: "Okay, it's down this hall here, on the left..."

Mav: "Stay sharp gang."

Mav: "I hope we're not interrupting dinner or anything?"

Cylon: "No, Commander Barto. We were anticipating your arrival. The data has been organized in a fashion that should be compatible with your rudimentary systems."

Mav: "Lt. Boone here has a nifty little computer that should do the trick."

Bones: "Yes it's got a fiber optic line that ought to go right into that data pool, or stream or whatever it is there."

Cylon: "Please proceed."

Bones: "Okay, let's see, there, that looks like what we're after. Alright, it's loading, this should only be a minute or two."

Cylon. "Fascinating how primitive..."

Mav: "So, it just goes right through that liquid, I wonder...?"
Bones: "Uh, Commander..."

Pvt Simon: "Sir, are you sure you want to...?"

Mav: "Whoa!"
Cylon: "There is no danger to the Commander..."

Mav: "Okay, that was weird! I'm not sure what it was that I saw, but...?"
*Ping!*
Bones: "Okay, it's done!"

Bones: "Thanks a lot fellas, it's been a pleasure!"

Cylon: "But CMDR Barto, we are curious as to your experience in the..."

Mav: "Sorry, no time to chit chat. I'll send you an email...We'll see ourselves out! Thanks again, now!"

Back On Galactica:
Mav: "So, Bones, do you think we got anything of value?"

Bones: "I think so, but what the frak do I know, CMDR. King's the expert, he'll figure it all out."

Bones: "What I want to know is what YOU saw when you stuck your hand in that control water?"

Mav: "Geeze, that's a good question, I don't know. It was almost like those 3D interactive things that Levopolis came up with. But all at once, it was difficult to sort out."

Bones: "We might need to have King check you out, too, Sir. Maybe there's something you saw that isn't on this laptop?"

Mav: "Speaking of Levopolis, I'm hoping there's some clue in there that helps us figure out what happened, and where he might be."

Parrington Levopolis, inventor and venture capitalist, held against his will.

Unsure of what has happened over the last 72 hours, Levopolis takes inventory of his surroundings. A bed, a sink, a ceiling fan.

No sounds of footsteps, no other prisoners, no voices, no sign of human activity.

Just the security cameras.

Who is in charge here?

What do they want?

Where is this place?

Nice! The cheese slopes on the wall are a nice effect, and I like the trans blue stuff on the ceiling. Also, cool design for the new ships, and your sink design is excellent.

Now an award winning series! Haha, I finally managed to read the new episode. Thrilling as always, that's for sure. I wouldn't trust this Bonsch-guy, he's always smiling. A little bit of criticism: I wouldn't use those photoshop lens flares, at least not that often. Your photos are brilliant enough without this false (and old) camera effect. My favourite picture in this story is the "Who is in charge here?" picture. Perfect atmosphere and depth.
Yeah, the lens flare thing, this guy over on Flickr got me started on that...I agree, though; too much. I liked those shot of PL in prison also, with the grills to diffuse the light from above. He looks pretty angry in his cage! Thanks again for the great comment! |

Wow, great episode. Your work on lighting and sets is getting even better if possible, the set on the basestar is has a nice mood to it(extra points for using the baseplate, over the floor). One thing I haven't noticed in your other comics is how "busy" all the other minifigs look. You did a really good job of making it look like everyone is moving through the comic to report for some duty, it really pops out in this episode. Also nice original design on what I'm assuming are versions of basestars.
Thanks, Ced! Yes, creating a sense of action in the hallway, did some in the hangar deck, too. The new ship is based on the Guardian Baseship, featured in a couple of episodes, but with some modifications. More to come! |

A fantastic episode as ever - any chance of a "making of" posting so I can see how you shoot the corridors and other interiors?
Thanks again, William! I had been thinking about doing something along those lines. But, it's actually pretty easy to set up. I've got about six wall units that I arrange over an upside down baseplate. I put the plate right to the edge of a table so I can get at 'eye level'. For this, I built a little staircase, like they have on the show, just for interest. Same goes for interiors, set up what you want, and get out the camera. Take some demo shots. Add walls to cover the background, make the ones you have a little taller if you need to. You can always crop later. Lighting from above or the side, I use those LED reading lights, $5 at Costco, and my LLBean headlamp. I hope that helps! |

Thanks, Tom! Gotta leave the audience hanging at the end, generating more questions than answers. Like: Does Mav really know how to bake banana bread? What will Levopolis do all alone without his posse? We will find out! |

I can't get over your attention to detail on the sets and story, everything is just so full of thought-out work. When you construct a set, do leave half of it accessible, or are you able to remove certain pieces depending on which angle you want?
Why thank you! Most are built with an open front, but I do on occasion remove a wall and really get in there with the camera. Like Levo's cell, I tore out the back wall and added the part across from the bars. As far as the Galactica walk around, I've had those components for a while and just move them around easy enough. I think they do that on a lot of TV shows, too, from what I've seen. Thanks again, Chief! |
