A little collection of images I took at the Finnish lego event in Finland's largest shopping mall IdeaPark.
About this creation
The basis for me going to the event was that I got some of my moc's for display through Finland's largest mocer group, Palikkatakomo (read eng. Blocksmith). The group was invited by LEGO to bring some mocs for display at this public event running between July 1st and August 31st. We actually get a little reward doing so and judging by that they asked postal addresses, it's gonna be something concretic. A lego set is the best guess =) A hero factory titan would be my liking.
First image here, there's a building table on the left. The place was filled with those for people to try some mocing. As I myself tried it at one point, I found usually pieces of one side, but not the other =P Random piles were really not fitting for more dedicated building.
A Bionicle Tahu Mata statue. LEGO appears to use old stuff, sending them to events around Europe. Something new would be nice to see though.
A fence jumping track and some other countryside stuff.
Jango Fett statue. Old thing again. There was actually a statue of Hagrid from Harry Potter, however I forgot to took an image of it. That one was transported in 2 pieces as the stomach area was gapping a little, lacking pieces.
Building table and piles of blocks. Intriguing?
Here's some of the actual mocs by Palikkatakomo people, my works included. I will refer to the builders using their usernames on Palikkatakomo's personal site.
An amusement park built by "legorides".
So yeah, 6 plastic display boxes for us to use and the larger one for legorides in the previous image. I actually don't know when the 6th popped up. We were meant to have just 5 so I'm a bit confused here. I had some hard time tucking my 2 titans in one of them.
Some Bionicle mocs by me, species invented by me called draken. There's Gringat, Vidra and Kuragari. The car on the front is, as far as I recall, a Shelby Cobra by "Heppuneppu".
The 2 tightly tucked titans of mine, Agrotis and Black Soul Monarth, and a little diorama of a monster eating knights by "tiikeli". My other titan being fallen was a bit sad scene :(
"Afganistan" by "Mikke the Master".
Military desert airfield by "OskariMasteri".
Some other desert military stuff by "Lord-Makkara" and "Hankalakala".
And finally the Finnish pride work, "Leijonat 2011" by "ptLeskinen". ptLeskinen is actually a whole family with the mocing hobby. This miniland themed vignette is of Finland's world hockey championship 2011, when we kicked some Swedish butt. Yes, we're quite competitive towards our neighbour country and likewise ;). "Leijonat" means "lions", which is our national hockey team's nickname. Ps. I couldn't help but notice that the Swedish flag's colors are wrong way around. Perhaps it's a pun intended.
People going around on the scene.
And final image of a lego city.
This event was a pretty nice experience, but could be better though. As Finland doesn't have that a large population nor turism, these events stay average sized. The full potential of Finnish lego events remain in the future. By those means, I'd definitely like to visit a large lego convention elsewhere.
Palikkatakomo works on supporting the lego related events in Finland, and I likely will be taking part in many of those in the future. Here's a link for Palikkatakomo's "In English" page: Palikkatakomo
So, I hope you enjoyed this little compilation and leave some comments below.
Looks like it was fun! I recon when I go to Brickvention next year I'll have to do something just like this! Anyway, lovely work mate! Your team of MOCer's are so good at building! Everything looks great! Amazing work ;)
