Featuring Starcraft's installation map. Watchout for hidden traps, quiet rattling noices, slimy goo, and the inevitable Zerg lurking in the corner...
About this creation
Just a quick build before the MocOlympics begins.
Anyway after playing some old school Starcraft, I was inspired to make a small moc featuring a cut-out of the installation. You gotta watchout for those gun traps though, you'll never know when they willl pop out from the floor.
Oh noes! It got Charlie!
I've also been practicing my photography lately, with the thanks to Gimp for cleaning up those small annoying glints of light as well as enhancing the color.
You'll be surprised how much this helps.
The Terran Marine and Hydralisk have been built based off of the first game.
Yeah, that's a pretty awesome MOC here. Starcraft is one of my favourite PC games, and I'm a big fan of the Zerg and their super-useful Hydralisks. You did a fantastic job with that diorama and all it's little details. While it has been quite a few years since the last time I actually played SC, I recognized the scenery right on the spot. Overall, great work here!
"You wanna piece o' me, boy?" :D Starcraft is so great, and you've done super well! That hydralisk is awesome, and the marine is much better than my failed rendition... >_< Grats on MOTD, and keep popping 'em!
Im an Starcraft veteran aswell.
And i know full well what you are on about,
The only time you meet thoose floor gun traps in SC II 1 is when you raid the lab to get the Oden.
But in the first game, there were plenty loads of them.
I really like your marine and hydralisk. awesome job man,
And Gratz on MOTD
We're still waiting on a decision from you on my CYOA. If you're too busy or lost interest, I can find someone else to take over your character, but so far you've been a very good player and I'd prefer to keep you in the CYOA.
Never seen anyone make a guntrap before, nor so well that it appears to have really popped out of the floor. I love how the entire scene looks straight out of that mission, as if all you did was shift from overhead to first-person perspective. And that hydralisk....whew, great use of parts.
Congrats on getting on the front page with this! So I'm going to be doing the MOC Olympics, but I will also still be working on the CYOA (episode 9 is up BTW). Hopefully I'll be able to post new episodes in a timely fasion. :)

If I had one nitpick, it would be the hydra's eyes, the black eyes in the game made them seem more insect/hive minded, versus the glowing eyes the sequel, and your green eyed version have, making them seem as if they have a mind of there own.
That's the problem I had with the Hydralisk too. Red eyes didn't look good, so I tried lime. But I didn't think of black. If I'll ever make an improved one I will use that.
Wow, great rendition of one of my all time favorite games. If I had one nitpick, it would be the hydra's eyes, the black eyes in the game made them seem more insect/hive minded, versus the glowing eyes the sequel, and your green eyed version have, making them seem as if they have a mind of there own.

Very good work here. The lighting and the overall scene are great. Now, what is Starcraft?
Seriously?? I find it very striking that mostly everyone here doesn't know what it is.
Starcraft is a science fiction real-time strategy game that came out in 1998 for the PC.
(or just look it up on wiki).
Also it's sequel, Starcraft 2, came out last year.
I've waited the whole day to comment on this one (just came back from work). I've never played Starcraft as a computer game, but I always wanted to buy the boardgame version. Blah blah blah anyway, your MOC is fantastic and the photos very well taken. Good atmosphere.
