A MOC I created for the HP Series Contest on MOCpages: Book One.
About this creation
This scene depicts one scene in Chapter 16: Through the Trapdoor. Contest rules include: models must be 16x16, no story towers, entries can be from the books or movies, no digital models.
Ron freaks out, instead of relaxing, as Devil's Snare wraps around him. Ron is lucky Hermione pays attention in Herbology (she summons bluebell flames), and Ron is lucky Harry doesn't lose his head in a crisis.
Fluffy's still awake, now that the harp and flute aren't being played to put him to sleep. He's pulling at his chains, dog bones at his feet, and the trap door is half open still.
Peeking out from the door on the bottom floor is a winged key from the next challenge room.
Another shot of the full scene.
I thought it might also be fun to try to work the Hogwarts crest into every piece I create for this series challenge. Don't know what I'm doing for the other books/movies, so we'll see!
Thanks for all the feedback! I look forward to seeing where the crest ends up as well :-)
Quoting Geertos13 You-know-who
I would have liked to see just a bit more color variation, in both the walls and the devil snare... Some lighter green and maybe some dark grey in the walls or something like that would really have florished everything up in my opinion!
I don't have any lighter green at my disposal, but your suggestion about the grey would have been perfect. I honestly hate that space at the moment but wasn't sure what to do with it. I wanted clear delineations between each section, and tiling the floor looked so absurd I removed it. But breaking up the grey is definitely the way I should have gone. Drat! Thanks for the suggestion, even though it's making me kick myself for not thinking of it! :-)
Oh that's really nice :)
I really like that scene! I thought of Snape's challenge as an entry, because it wasn't in the film, but this one is really awesome too! the Devil Snare looks great and that Hogwarts Chrest looks good there, would love to see where you'll put it in later creations :)
I would have liked to see just a bit more color variation, in both the walls and the devil snare... Some lighter green and maybe some dark grey in the walls or something like that would really have florished everything up in my opinion! Then again, this is already an awesome creation so that is just a minor detail!
Thanks, Seth. It was lots of fun weaving and layering those 50 vines together to make the Devil's Snare curve around where the flame eliminated it, but it fell apart dozens of times before I got it the way I wanted it.
If we were allowed two entries, I would have done a Harry & Draco with the Remembrall scene. I might still do that, as the composition is in my head and my LEGO brick containers are spread out everywhere.
I own every single Harry Potter set and poor Fluffy hardly ever gets used. It was nice to give him a place in the spotlight for once.
