J0N0TR0N1C SYSTEMS (who we'll call Jono for ease) is one of my favourite builders here on MOCPages and he's recently expanded into building space bases. As any lover of Classic Space will tell you doors are a real problem when you're building your pad on the moon and Jono's assymetrical swing door was a pretty inspired solution but as he pointed out it wasn't a functioning airlock.
Well, this got me thinking and I started tinkering with door designs which just grew into a corridor and a room and before I knew it I had a little moonbase on my hands. Given the genesis of the model I decided to make a few changes to it and lo and behold! The J0N0TR0N1C SYSTEMS STUDIO was born. Seriously, I'm not a stalker, just a fan.
Anyway, here's Jono standing outside his new home from home. Hi Jono.
what a handy selection of tools you have stored out there, I suppose you could fix almost anything with those, including the solar power array and the various bottles of gases and liquids used to keep the base habitable. You can also make out the air processors on the roof and the bases of the huge upload dish, for sending building instructions to his factory complexes in orbit and the much smaller download dish, because frankly too much junk mail rots your soul.
so, Jono, aren't you going to invite us in and show us around? this is the first door in action, a simple trapdoor-on-its-side...
it takes a short while to cycle the airlock and then we can come into the main reception, which also houses the kitchen.
once we're in then there's a handy space to hang up his helmet - note the spare rocket pack and the pair of laser pistols, you never can be sure when a deranged autograph hunter might stop by the studio
here's a close up of the second type of door that made it in, a nice heavy swinging pressure door
Jono's a creative type and creative's run on caffeine, so there are coffee machines dotted throughout the base, but what's this?? DECAF?! begone vile fiend!!
once he's calmed down a bit, Jono will probably make his way down to the studio to start on his next Lego creation - his work desk is suspended on the mezzanine floor of the geodome, with some chill out space (and a nicely equipped VR PlayStation 19) below. The pink plant was a gift from an ex-lover that he can't throw away - it's carnivorous and every time he tries there's bloodshed.
there are two ways up to the workdesk, either the ladder in the geodome or up the stairs in the main reception area through this hatch (yes, door number 3!) and into the Lego parts store...
where everything is stored in colour coded drawers. I'm a little jealous of this.
finally, when the day is done, the masterpiece created, the royalties banked and the last broken spindly upright mended, Jono retreats to his bedroom which yes, has an en-suite and yes, it has all the facilities you need
All a bit silly but hey, I'm an adult playing with virtual lego. I found some of the details in this model really satisfying, especially the shower in the bathroom, the multi-coloured pipes running from the gas bottles and the the unnamed greebly on the roof between the two satellite dishes. Don't know why, I just do.
Wow! I am blown away. What an awesome and inspiring tribute! Your base has everything I wish I could have put into mine. I guess I have no choice now but to start planning the Far-Out-Post version 2. This MOC is totally sweet. Thanks again. I am truly honored. P.S. you have no way to know this, but my hair is light brown and I drink tea instead of coffee, otherwise, nice likeness!
