MocOlympics Round 1 : Always Winter
Somewhere North of the Arctic Circle, where it's always winter...
About this creation
This is my entry for round one of the 2011 MocOlympics, building under the category winter..

P.S. The date on the pics is dd/mm/yyyy - the way it's done in Britain - the pics were not taken in July as someone said...

The necessary link: 2011 MocOlympics

.... Our Inuit friend decides to emerge from his igloo to do some fishing...

'Brrrr! Nippy!'

Let's see what comes up today...

'What the ...?'

'You're a long way from home little fella..'

'WAAK?'

'Seriously, fella, this is the North Pole - you guys live at the South Pole...'

'WAAK!'

'... and it's that way ... 13,000 miles, hang a left, can't miss it!'

'WAAK'
'You're welcome, little buddy. Goodbye!'

He'll be fine... let's get something to eat. I'm hungry...

'RESULT!'

Let's get inside and get this baby cooked...

'WAAK!'
'Hey! Come back here with that!'

He never did get it back... good thing there's plenty more where that came from (for now at least..)

I do hope the judges enjoyed that... here's an overhead view of my extensively snotted igloo... no, it isn't green... but it was quite hard to get the shape right!

The top lifts off .... to show a simple interior with bed, rug, paraffin lamp and somewhere for the Maxifig to cook his fish when he catches another one... or that penguin.

Thanks everyone!

Quoting Kristina Neel Hey Nick, Great work! I am doing a LEGO workshop at Danish Architecture Centre. Would love to use the first picture of the igloo on postcards etc. Would you mind (I would of course credit you)? And if it's okay: can I get the picture in a higher solution? Best, Kristina
Thanks Kristina, and yes: I'd be thrilled. You should have my reply with a link to a better image in your e-mail.

Haha! Lovely build and write up Nick. And I do appreciate the 3D rounding you achieved. My mathematical inclinations are fully satisfied. Is it utterly futile to chase a penguin on the ice?

Cool build, and nice job going old school with the classic fig! Congrats!

Say goodbye to the kitchen tiles and the date and time :) A3 card is better than paper, get it from a craft shop roll it up when not in use. Omg the suspense, how long do we get for R2 and what on earth will we have to build?

Nooooo! It was destiny Nick, i think we jinxed each other and our scores were too close for comfort. That 0.2 will come in handy for the next round ;) Ok you can build Batman, i'll build technic cars yeah???

Quoting Dave Kaleta Nick, There's something to be said about building at a different scale than everyone else; you took a risk and it payed off. Two presentation issues you should consider. Get out the manual for your camera, and figure out how to turn the date stamp off. Consider creating a little photography zone with a piece of plain paper instead of a countertop. Thank you for sharing your take on the categories. ~Dave
Thank you, Dave. Looking at every one else's entries I think you're right.

Quoting Deus Otiosus Maybe using a tire for a hat, it would make it look colder...
I did wonder whether or not to dress the fig: wish I'd thought of that at the time! Thanks for the comment.

Additional congratulations from me. I couldn't believe that somebody was bold enough to use the original classic LEGO® figs. Of cause the rest was fantastic, too.

It's been a long time since I've seen a Dacta fig in a contest, and this one makes up for it! An igloo was one of my first idea's, but I figured anybody could think of that! Glad you built it in this excellent way. Good luck with your judges!

Really nice igloo Nick. I would have been sold on the construction without the interior and the humour, but they were icing on the cake! Geddit? Ice-ing? Alright, not my best. Still. love this and good luck!
