Name: Mirage
Species: Matoran (Av-Matoran)
Element: Light
Titles: Ghost, Toa, Phantom, Reaper
Occupation: Haunting the abandoned city of Muerta-Nui
Kanohi: Anor, Mask of Phasing
Weapons: Twin daggers, Longsword
Song: Windmills of Your Mind
In the waning days of Spherus Magna, there exists a town called Muerta-Nui. It is a dead town, abandoned generations ago due to drought and famine. The last to leave was a group of Av-Matoran monks who maintained a wind farm. Among them was a young boy who had been left on their doorstep. They took him in just before the the drought-induced exodus, and they believed that he was a sign from the Great Beings that there was still a chance for life in the Muerta-Nui. Six years passed, and the child became wise beyond his years. The monks began to call the boy Mirage, because when he looked at something, it appeared that he was looking through it, at something beyond.
Soon, the child grew very sick. The Av-Matoran's healing and prayers did little for the child, and he died within a month of his illness. The monks left Muerta-Nui as they acknowledged that life was indeed finished in their town. Mirage was buried under his favorite windmill.
Occasionally, someone travels through the ghost town of Muerta-Nui, and they encounter a shimmering Toa who puts a knife to their throat. The travellers claim that the Toa gazes through them, directly into their soul. If their soul is clean, the Toa releases them, offers them a glimpse of the future, then disappears in a flash of light. If there is evil there, the Toa cuts their throat and buries the body among a field of windmills.
Behold the Mirage.
Between purchasing the Witch Doctor and having no intact MOCs that have white as a main color, it was time to make a white Toa. I think I'm one of the first to use the Witch Doctor's head as an inverted mask, but I think it turned out really well. I also think I'm one of the first to make a Bionicle Ghost story, but I don't read a ton of fan fiction, so I could be wrong.
The inverted Witch Doctor helmet fits a Mata head almost perfectly.
No heartlight. Is he alive or dead?
I decided to go for simple Rahkshi upper limbs and go for a more custom, ornamented look on the lower limbs.
The legs were a pain, but they turned out well.
Back.
Back without weapons. It's amazing how well the Hero Factory armor fit onto the Hordika torso.
Mata head + little round pin + Witch Doctor mask = Awesome.
Mirage wielding his twin daggers. Good for fighting with and throwing.
His more devastating weapon, the Longsword.
I got this one giant blade in a bag of Bionicles I got at a secondhand store, and I just had to make a giant freakin' sword out of it.
Umillu-like action pose!
The weapons, using Umillu's ninja sword handle design. If your MOC has fingers and you don't want one of those ugly, underneath the hand connections just to keep your weapon in place, try out this. It's effective.
Thanks for viewing, and let me know what you think!

I haven't seen something made with a mata head (as a face) in a LONG time. of course, I could have missed something... nice one. he reminds me of something from FF XIII, but I can't put my finger on it...
It's probably the asymetric shoulders, TONS of things in that game have similar shoulders. Thanks for the comment!

Wow epic job! Clever head. I always like it when people use Mata heads. I like that design with the sword BUT with my self moc that would not work. I use GIMP and I make posters. But I use the path select tool and go around the part I want (it takes about a half an hour) so can you tell me the name of the tool you use? It would help ALOT!
I used the magic wand tool. It selects an area by color but it doesn't select other areas of that color, so if you have a white background it won't also select parts of your MOC. You can then just delete the background and you're all set.

Awesome. It seems that everyone has Witch Doctor now! Great MOC, and what program do you use for your posters? Their awesome!
I use GIMP. There is a really neat tool that allows you to select by color so I can get rid of the background very easily. Then it's just a matter of putting the MOC in front of a background that I find off of Google images and I'm all set. To download GIMP, just go to their website. It's free!

This is soo awesome! i love evrything about it, particularly the torso and head designs! Great to see that your uaing the poster- i completely forgot to put his name on it so if you want just ask and it'll take me 5 minutes :)
Nah, it's all good. I just revamped him anyway and tried my hand at making my own poster. It's better than Mirage's but I still have a ways to go before I am as good as you. You should join the "It's not rocket surgery" group and give us a few pointers.

Great build! Just a little creepy story.....If you can can you make Toa Quoggles(Not posted yet) come across him and survive as a sign please it would help my story(also not posted yet) out allot! Its fine if you don't want to.
Thanks!
Assuming you're okay with Quoggles living thousands of years after the fall of Teridax, sure.
Awesome once again! The body is amazing and the sword is HUGE!

AWESOME MOC Cody, I have to say the story was great. Not amazing, but very well done. That combined with the head makes me want to build a version of this guy, but I don't have Witch Doctor. Hmpf.

Kinda ironic, but still a great build! The reason i say ironic is because you said he haunted the city Muerta-Nui, Muerto means death in spanish(if i can remember correctly) and he is a toa of Light! But honestly he out does my Reaper by a long-shot, now if only I could post it....
Yes, I named the town after death. the color white in many cultures symbolizes death, so really it is just as fitting to have a Toa of Light be a ghost than a Toa of Shadow.

Easily one of your best MOCs. I need Witch Doctor, and I need him now, for the mask alone. Great job again!
It just screams Mask of Phasing, doesn't it? Like the name I came up for it?
Aw, dang it! Why is it that as soon as I'm finished making a MOC and ready to put it on MOCpages, someone does practically the same thing??? Oh well. I like it anyways. Mine is a Half-Ghost though... :P Nevermind.

Thanks! I'm not very experienced in the whole "ghost story" thing, so I think that "Not amazing, but very well done" is perfectly acceptable in this case. ;)
I usually never comment here but this one deserves one, I love the blend of story and figure here, you presented him so well with the music and story, as for the mask and weapons they are simple and great. His lower legs are nice as well, great shaping. You really make me want to use some of these techniques.
(if your curious about my work i post it on deviantart under the same name, didnt want you to think im some random noob who doesnt know what hes talking about ;D)
Fantastic use of the witch doctor mask! I didn't even know that this piece had some kind of face on the other side.. and the body with this HF-claw piece on his neck is such a great design! Excellent!
AMAZING MOC ! ok well, not amazing, but it's truly well done and awesome and deserves a 5/5. Anyways, awesome head design, I will now start putting pins on HF pieces lol ! And not only that, the weapon tip was very useful. Thanks.
Even with hero factory parts, this is still a good toa. That mask/head, awesome interaction between 2001 ad 2011. Even after 10 years, pieces can mix and match.
