Lesser Ships of the Templar Fleet
Small ships, big teeth.
About this creation
The Expeditionary Fleets of Vaticos' elite Templars are composed solely of advanced FTL warships. Their mission is to shepherd Mobile Gateways across the long reaches of space, capture and hold positions within target systems, and protect the Gateways while they create wormhole links back to Vaticos for full invasion forces.

What's a fleet with just a few big monsters in it? No fun, that's what! Like any bouquet, you need filler! Except, this bouquet will immolate your society for having the wrong beliefs... But anyway! Here are the smaller ships of the Vaticos Expeditionary fleet!

BONESPIKE CORVETTE

A slick little number, lightly armed but swift. It is the only Trans-L ship in the fleet small enough to make a planetary landing. It can carry a small party of soldiers or functionaries, and often is sent ahead of the main fleet to negotiate surrender or assassinate specific targets.

In the midst of full fleet combat the corvettes swarm around the larger ships, providing defensive ire with their twin mid-range energy cannons.

Standard Compliment for an Expeditionary Fleet:12-20

SHRIEK DESTROYER

A blazing killer, small packs of Shrieks can take out capital ships with their heavy plasbeam bore cannons.

Standard Compliment for an Expeditionary Fleet: 14-24

BURST FRIGATE

The Spartan of the fleet, this ship is both shield and spear, missile interceptor and fighter hunter. The frigates often fly out with fighters into the middle of dogfights, tearing holes through flights of enemy fighters with their pincushions of mid-range energy cannons.

Standard Compliment for an Expeditionary Fleet: 14-24

DELUGE WEAPONS PLATFORM

*GRUNT!* ME GOT SHOOTAS!

It's big, it's slow, it's mean. This one carries small defensive turrets, long-range cannons, and huge steaming pile of ship-to-ship missiles. Fusion warheads, string unravellers, worm charges, trans-l skip-rockets, armor-piercing plague injectors, you name it, this Lug's got it.

Standard Compliment for an Expeditionary Fleet: 10-20

GABRIEL BATTLESHIP

This one has similar primary armament to the Shriek, plus small rocket tubes, but is much slower and serves a different purpose. While the Shriek hurtles forward into the teeth of the battle, Gabriels hang back with the main fleet, serving as defenders.

Though they cannot land like the Bonespike, the Gabriels can operate in atmosphere, and are often sent down on suppression missions or to take out dirt-side planetary defense installations.

Standard Compliment for an Expeditionary Fleet: 14-24

WHISPER RECON SHIP

The eyes and ears of the fleet. The Whispers are the fastest ships o the fleet, both at Trans-L and in normal space. These ships are hardly armed at all, with just two pair of defensive turrets near the prow. These swift, stealthy ships slip deep into enemy territory, learning the lay of the heathen systems, their capabilities and resources. The Whisper brings the fleet the information it needs to determine the best place to set and defend the Mobile Gateway.

Along with its own on-board suite of surveillance equipment, the Whisper carries two stealth runabouts and sixteen reconnaissance drones.

Standard Compliment for an Expeditionary Fleet:6-10

Quoting Cedekane . Dang! Wicked parts usage, the destroyer takes the cake for me.
Thanks! A lost of my ideas come from looking at over-stylized pieces, bits which seem to have a set sens of "This is a ____," and finding some way to break that "rule".

Really cool parts usage and color combos! I like how you mixed the mechanical and smooth looking pieces.

More awesome ships from you! I think the last one is my favorite. Also, your work is very good, and deserves a lot more recognition than it gets. One way to get more people to see your stuff would be to join groups and post your stuff in them. I think that a good one for you might be Space (http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/17) which, as the name implies, is all space creations. Anyway, nice work, keep building!
