Battle for Hogwarts - The Battle Begins....
Voldemort orders his minions to attack Hogwarts!
About this creation
After destroying the protective spells surrounding the castle, Voldemort orders a full-scale attack on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry

The remaining members of the Order of the Phoenix stand their ground in the Entrance Courtyard, ready for the attack

The Heralds of Hogwarts stand guard on the Viaduct, doing what they were created for - defending the School

Off story now - here is my newly renovated Great Hall entrance - a big upgrade to my last effort

The Watchtowers

Why is Arthur Weasley so happy?

The start of the long winding path to the Boathouse

Better view of the Great Hall

Side View

Back window of the Great Hall

There should be more Knights, but my Bricklink order hasn't arrived yet ;-)

The little cliff holding Bellatrix & Voldemort should be much farther back and taller, but I couldn't resist adding this for effect :-D

Really god moc of the battle of Hogwarts scene, now you can make it with the great hall destroyed and Harry and voldemort figthing in its middle, like in the film. and if you could make the rest of the castle it would be so cool

Quoting Nick Doyle Is this still ongoing?
Hey Nick, yeah this is ongoing, I've moved recently which has thrown everything out of whack, but I've started ordering more pieces for the next part (will actually be a revised version of my Quad that I've not actually posted on MOCpages yet) and an improved version of the Grand Tower, which will all link to the Great Hall and my new Clocktower (can be seen on Flickr) via the Hospital Wing. Will hopefully have it finished within the next few weeks.

A very accurate model!! WOW!! The great hall looks utterly amazing! The viaduct is also very well done. The courtyard is very faithful to the movie, however, i think it should be a tiny bit bigger. All in all you truly have an eye for detail!!

Wow. You really have an eye for detail. Where do you get all these pieces? I really wish I had that many lego pieces. When I try to make a hogwarts castle i never have enough legos. If you ever destroy it, can you please make the set look like how it is after the battle? With all the destruction and everything? haha.

Quoting Larry Chay I am wondering what the tower is in the main photo. It is not in any other pictures, so I am wondering whether it was a mistake or purposly put only in the main photo. And by the way, GREAT moc!
Not a mistake Larry :-) The tower is meant to be the grand staircase tower, but I only got 1/3 of it finished. It used >>way<< too many pieces, so it had to go :-(

Creative: 7, Technical: 7, Potteristic: 8, Total: 22. Great piece. The overall presentation of the Hogwarts castle is accurate as far as style and color. The character placement is relevant to the movie and the bridge with the knights and trolls is one of the highlights of the creation. Overall, nice work!

Quoting Captain Elegost #2 Great model,I love it.One question though where do you get all off your sand green brick plates?????
Thanks! Sand green seems to be an expensive colour, but I got most of mine from the actual 4842 Hogwarts set. I have 8, most of them purchased with vouchers. Others come from eBay and bricklink. I still have more but they'll be used to make a roof for the Clocktower's courtyard. It's even harder to find decent (and cheap) quantities of Sand Green slopes.... I've ordered a few Brandenburg Gates architecture sets to resolve that issue...

Commenting again, I must salute you, building Hogwarts Castle to minifig scale. Upon completion, you will have built the grandest MOC on the site, and likely one of the greatest in the world. I wouldn't doubt that you'll be contacted by Legoland, or by people from the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter then park wanting this.

Quoting Jeremy Smith oh they are, really sorry wen will you be putting the long gallery on? on face book, lego minifig as profile pic, said well good on long gallery.
All good. I need to finish the Long Gallery first, the wall you saw on Facebook is only half of 1 side, I'm waiting on more parts to arrive so I can complete it. Also, the version I started was from The Half Blood Prince, in The Deathly Hallows they changed the design of the bottom floor's windows. I need to fix mine to suit tDH. Should be finished and posted on MOCpages within the next few weeks. Adding the Bell Towers (the twin towers at the end of the Long Gallery) will be harder... Have no real plans on how to build them or their roofs yet.... :-S

Quoting Jeremy Smith "the checkpoint towers are too small, the back of the viaduct doesn't look great"
Forgot to reply to these points. The Watchtowers are almost spot on, see the Harry Potter Wiki: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Entrance_Courtyard - this shows the courtyard in full view with the height of them. The HP Wiki is an awesome source for reference pictures for all my creations. Also, the back of the Viaduct was made in about 10 minutes, simply to have *something* for it to connect *to*. I know it's bad, but until I get 40,000 green plates to create a massive sloped hill, it'll do :-P

Quoting Jeremy Smith possibly the best lego moc,the grand staircase tower is just the right size so is the viaduct, the new entrance hall looks much better than the old one, the courtyard is very accurate. There are with all lego mocs, i hate to be negative, the checkpoint towers are too small, the back of the viaduct doesn't look great and the grand staircase tower isn't at the side of the entrance hall so the staircase cant be accesed. will you be making an astronomy tower? and wen will the centeral tower be posted? But i still havent changed my mind the whole harry potter hogwarts project is my fav moc by far, id luv 2 c it in person plz reply!
LOL yeah, I know it's a little off at the moment, there's a lot still to do - when I made the courtyard, I started it off square, and kept it that way for the final MOC. The staircase tower *SHOULD* cover one corner of it, and connect to the little walkway attached to the Great Hall, but to be honest the addition of the staircase tower was a last minute thought - I was kicking the idea around the night before and thought it would look good slotted in to the pics. The next step is to cut out the corner it covers, place the staircase tower, and make an angled courtyard wall to cover the base of it, like the real thing. I am working on an Astronomy Tower, I have a few ideas but at the moment it's just the tip of the tower. Waiting on some parts to arrive from Bricklink before I go head-first into that part of the project. Next on my agenda is to complete the Transfiguration Classroom, and at least 1 half of the Long Gallery to connect to the back of my Viaduct Entrance Hall (title is funny because it no longer connects to the viaduct ^o^) Once these are done I will build more of the Astronomy Tower and the Transfiguration courtyard it half sits in. Look for the "Lismore Lego Crew" Facebook page for some WIP pics of the Long Gallery and Transfiguration Classroom. Way too "WIP-y" to post on MOCpages :-P

Very nice! the court yard looks absolutely stunning. And The bridge looks exactly like the movie. Now all you need is 1000+ clear pieces for that shield spell, and you're on you way! No, just kidding. But still, amazing job!

Quoting Jhayk' Sulliy This does not get my usual rating. There are mistakes here, that I didn't expect from you. While I love to see how far you have come, some of these differences don't seem canon. As in, the court yard is way too small, and why is the Great Hall sitting on a pair of rocks now? I love the new design, it's just that the new "improvements" are a just little unexpected, to say the least.
I'm yet to add a proper explanation for my use of the double-rock baseplate, but suffice to say this is still very much a work in progress. Ultimately the entire section should be on cliffs about 3 times as high as these. I used the baseplate as simple way to raise the Great Hall to the right height I'd set the courtyard and viaduct at. The courtyard may appear too small, but in keeping the minifigure scale it fits exactly where it needs to be - the base of the tower needs to be shifted to meet the little walkway attached to the great hall and also should be covering the top righthand corner irks the courtyard. I took photos as is because it's already been a 3 week project, and I need to make more and more adjustments, but for now I'm proud of my creation and I certainly stand by it being almost cannon except for the adjustments I need to make which I mentioned above.
