About this creation
After three years she's back, more powerful than ever, when I demolished my previous version I was filled with regret, I feared I would not be able to build a new version as good as the old one, never mind better.

My first attempts failed dramatically

half a ship

This version ended up as a parking lot :S it was big, bulky but most critical: it was ugly
parking lot

Then I took a more professional approach, I drew an interior plan based on the shape from the schematics of the real Flying Dutchman.
(the real Flying Dutchman schematics)

I went pretty detailed here, I decided not to build the lower deck but only the part above the waterline, it will be a much easier build considering shape and steadyness.
When I was figuring out the Dutchmans interior I noticed the exterior does not exactly match the interior, I can't match both in my design, fundamentally impossible. I chose to go by the exterior, this will result in the more realistic ship. the downside will be the captain's quarter being smaller.

A big change is
that I left one side open, one can view the interior a lot easier that way (recalling the multiple hatches and folding stuff on the previous version.

Now, as you could have read in the title this is a prototype, this means there will be a final version.

Here's my progress so far :
Due brickshelf problems you might not be able to see these pictures, I'm sorry for that, if this is the case you can view one picture on my flickr

Quoting Morthen P this is quite alooooot better than your previously version, its so bigger and so much more detailed, and really just awesome, when was it you did start on it? as far as i can recall it was about the same time the forbiddencove had a contest, and then wanted to build you new FD but ofcourse you never made it to the contest with it, hehe, but i really love the darktan plates within the hull, makes it look brilliant, and the stern couldnt be any better,
it's almost a year, including planning, sketching and prototypes, Too bad I can't enter it in any contest, I certainly would have gotten a price :P

Quoting Louie M shouldn't will turner be the captain.in the movie davy saids if you stab my heart your heart wil replace it because the dutchman must have a captain and in the maelstrom jack helps will stab his heart and kills davy once that happen he falls into the maelstrom.so my point is shouldn't will be the captain
No he shouldn't, I based my ship off the version when Davy Jones is still captain, you can see that in the many sea-creature details. When Will Turner becomes captain the crew but also the ship itself turns back to normal, the seaweed and barnacles dissappear then and the ship turns brown.

Quoting Louie M sebeus can i ask you a question.cant you destoy other ships so you can have all the cannons for the dutchman?also can you make a another progress pic?
Most of my cannons have red carriages, they don't look good with the color scheme of my FD, All of my brown cannons are already onboard. I can't make a progress pic right now, the ship is in a critical phase for the rigging, if I post a pic now there's a big chance people won't like the rigging, I must solve this first

Very beautiful shape. This is going to be a magnificent ship. When I saw your black pearl back in march. I knew you had the skill to turn out something out of the ordinary. I must admit that I have been a bit dissapointed about your previous flying dutchman mocs. (You know I am a sucker for the custom hull I suspect you are of the same opinion (guess you wouldn´t turn out a behemoth like this otherwise). However this moc is showing of your skill, and you sure got some. Keep it up! With a start like this (well you seem to be almost finished) it can´t go wrong.

Quoting mike rupert hey i really like your builds. i just recently got back into legos with the new potc sets but i was very disappointed with have unrealistic and small they were, i was wondering if i might be able to purchase plans for your flying dutchman and black pearl?
Well, I don't have any plans and since both ships are demolished it would be difficult to reconstruct plans. Maybe you can find help at Classic-pirates.com, at the forum there you can find lots of interesting techniques and often also basic instructions on how to apply them on a ship

Awesome job Sebeus!!! I see your practically done, all you need is the masts, sails, and hatches on the cabin side. I like the design of the ship, I've been looking at the comparison of the Dutchman and this one, and I see they're almost exactly the same! O único problema é que eu acho que não é o bastante verde e algas marinhas no navio. (Portuguese, translate on google.) Other then that, this is outstanding! :D

I haven't planned a Kraken...yet, I huild a Flying Dutchman three years ago and now I'm building a better one :p I estimated the final dimensions to a total lenght of 132 studs (about 1 meter) and a maximal width of 26 studs (about 20 centimeters) the final height has not been determined yet.

Quoting Allarand Arcadia ... Btw, you have a shark and some animals in the back o fthe ship: why, if I may ask? Keep up the good work, my friend! :-)

You made all those schemes? You are either very gifted or interested in drawing... But about the ship: it's turning out better than the last one (I liked the car parking spot, it's way bigger than the ones on our building's garages XD ) But, honestly, I agree with you: black is to strong and your option was wise. The cannons are interesting, and I couldn't help noticing the figs: nice work with the manga-style hair!!! I trust this will be the BEST Flying Dutchman EVER! Awesome, I like this one a lot better than the old one already. I like how it looks almost simpler because I always hate it when people build dutchmens that have so much plant growth that it is confusing to look a and it looks ugly, but I guess the ship isn't a very pretty ship.....
