I got my fair share of LEGO for my 34th birthday, and I'm overjoyed!
About this creation
Among other things (the most awesome being a week of vacation all included, even live expenses, from my parents) I got a whole bunch of 3.0 Hero factory sets.
The Witch Doctor, big ass Rocka, Waspix, Bulk, 2 Stringers and a Stormer (which didn't fit in the picture). I also have a Raw-Jaw coming.
I usually don't build sets, but I was curious about some of these. Here you can see the cool Waspix and the needlessly complex big ass Rocka.
As you can see, I never got around completing Witch Doctor. Why?
Looking at this intricate, useless technic work just to build a body frame which lacks even the most basic poseability pissed me off so much that I simply sorted his ass off.
Seriously, are HF designers incompetent, or just lazy? I'd really like to know if there was a reason for this. I mean, after Maxilos body's design there's just no excuse.
Awesome stuff for parts, though. Best source of raw material since the Skopio.
Well, at least I could console myself with some BACON!

Happy birthday! Which did you thin was better, HF or Bionicle?
It depends on what you plan to build. HF armor pieces are sleeker and more generic, but are difficult to set up on custom technic frames, and HF masks are designed to work only on HF heads (moreover the villains' masks can't fit on heroes' heads) but still most HF parts are awesome for MOCing. They are perfect for smaller MOCs, or parts where you need a clean, streamlined look. The 2.0 sets were very poorly designed, but they improved them in 3.0: the villains don't look like junkpiles anymore. Still as I said, what's the point in creating 2 big titan sets without botehring to give them more poseability? Moreover many sets display an unjustified mix of colors. Like Raw-Jaw, who's black, red and siver... but he has some gunmetal plates. Some 3.0 sets still look like rainbow warriors, if we count in the single useless trans-green armor plate all heroes have. Everyone knows that the coolest number of colors in a combo is 3: main, secondary and accent color.
Happy bacon day to you my friend! In response to your previous comment on my page, I went through a bout of lego depression after last years mocathalon disaster. In short, I needed to go on a lego sabbatical and just stop building. Once I get some personal stuff in my life sorted out I'll build again. Carry on the the good fight.
I don't know what's better, all this, or that bacon! Happy Birthday mate! I'm rather jealous of your presents!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUDE!
I'm gonna be making a life-sized Witch Doctor costume that is more epic than the set and it will have an actual inversed leg system that I'm making as well. He will have glowing red eyes and the mouth will move with mine, plus Just like my witch doctor set it will have the prototype version of his staff [will make several to sell some staves, also will accept comissions to make more witch doctor costumes for about $3,000 hopefully I'm successfull].
Buon compleanno, Sir. La speranza è stata una fine. Aren't those 3.0 parts fun to work with? Haven't gotten Waspix or Skorpio yet, but have tinkered with the Hero bits http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/288082
Anyway, cheers, and enjoy that Bacon!
Happy Birthday Yuri! Dang those sets look tasty! Err, I mean the bacon! I also agree with El Barto about wrapping that bacon around a stick of butter and frying it. You have to beer batter it though and fry it in pure lard for the full effect. Hahah! Have a great Birthday buddy!
well, happy birthday man. ive only gotten rocka xl sofar, who is really just a slightly more upgraded version of firelord. but theyre still great for pieces, especially the witchdoctor, which ill totally buy next. cant wait to see what you creat out of him.
