Destination : Legoland, Earth.

Welcome all to my entry for Round 2 of the 2011 MOC Olympics

Category : It Came From Outer Space!
Illustrious Opponent : DeTomaso Pantera

It was a quiet day in a quiet corner of Legoland. People quietly go about their business - a man walks his dog on the green, a lady admires the model in the Lego shop window....

...Little knowing what is speeding towards them through the depths of outer space...

One of the Brick Harvesters gets a reading...
'Hey.. there's undefended bricks on Earth!'
'Full steam ahead!' (Steam ? Are you sure...)

A dark shadow looms over Legoland. Everyone looks up in wonder at these unknown visitors from space. All except the lady by the shop - the model in the window is just so nice...

The pilots manoevre the ship.
'What do you mean I can't park this thing! Watch me!'

Suddenly, there's panic in the streets. Everybody runs away from the huge and hideous alien craft...
Everyone except one brave man and his curious dog.
Someone runs into his house to make a phone call...

The ship lands on it's feet, looming over the town. People flee in terror!
'See! Told you I can park it!'

A figure emerges from the belly of the machine... Does he/she/it come in peace ?

A deep voice booms from one of the invaders: 'WE COME FOR YOUR PIECES!!'
The man stands his ground. 'You can't have them. They're ours!'

'SILENCE EARTHLING! DO YOU WANT TO BE ASSIMILATED ?'
The man notices one of the creatures' legs. Gulp.

'WE ARE FROM THE VINTAGE HOMEMAKER FIGURE PLANET. WE HAVE ONLY SIX COLOURS. YOU HAVE MANY COLOURS. THEY ARE OURS NOW!'
'VHF planet eh? Do you get good radio reception ?'
'WHAT ?'
'Never mind...'

'ENOUGH CHIT CHAT. FIRE!'

Legoland needs a hero. Who will save the town ?
(insert brick-sized mobile phone joke here...)
'What's that ?' says the man in the yellow space suit, 'Aliens ? Taking our Lego ? Not while I'm around, they aren't!'

Yes! Legoland has it's hero. We'll call him, oh I don't know.... Tom.
Tom races to his car...

With a screech of tyres he's off, to save the Lego!

Back at the shop, the aliens shot the roof of the building with their spacey tile dislodging laser cannon energymotron. They are rummaging through all the new sets. A lady at the Pick A Brick wall is oblivious. Well, she has found a bin full of 1x2 trans blue plates...

'WOW. LOOK AT THIS!' The alien finds something good...

'COOL! CHECK OUT ALL THAT CHEESE! MMMM I'M HUNGRY!'

'THIS... WILL BE MINE! MWAHAHAHAHA!'

'HANG ON A MINUTE, I'VE FOUND A UNIMOG - ORANGE! NICE!'

With a screech of tyres and a crash, Tom arrives on the scene.
'Hey you! You can't have that! Not while I'm around!'

Will Tom save the Lego ?
Will the invaders go home empty handed ?
Will they ever have more than six colours ?
All these questions and less will be answered in the next episode!!

TO BE CONTINUED!!! (possibly...)

You are not the only one to have nightmares about visits from VINTAGE HOMEMAKERS. ;^} Great stuff throughout. Love the ship and dog's face among other things. But don't tease us about fabled PAB finds.

I'm terribly sorry, Nick, but I like your opponents entry a little bit better, so my vote goes to him. As you know from round 1, I love your use of the original LEGO® figures, just like your take on the classic space ships in this round. Very entertaining story and some good laughs. But ... the overall design is a bit imbalanced. There are parts with brilliant details and designs and then again others that look a bit like they don't belong there, for example the park area, compared with your hero's home. Nevertheless I'd love to see you continue the story.

Quoting Austin Durick cool i think you are gonna win what is with the huge minifigs? is that a uk lego?
They're called homemaker figures (often referred to as Maxifigs), and pre-date Minifigs. They were only current for a few years in the 1970s. Thanks for your comment!

Maybe darken the brightness and contrast on the pictures, (It's got too much of a happy feel for the end of the earth.) And what's up with the freaky looking dog? I hope this helps (By the way, loved the idea of old Lego people invading earth.) And good luck!

So so so good!! Love the classic space feel mixed in with (very) old-school town. It really comes across as your unique style. I'm not old enough to have seen this from LEGO themselves, but I have loads of old catalogues from the '80s which I used to love reading - this captures several of their classic themes beautifully. 10/10

And you're right they are quite different, I wouldn't like to be the judge. May the best Moc win!
