This is my entry for the MIT Contest. Out of my three Collectable Minifigures I chose to use the caveman. I was slowly building this over the past few days making a few modifications here and there and I can't find anything else that is wrong with it or needs to be added so. I hope you like it especially you judges ;)

Nifty details all over! Cool mech! |
|
|
The fig and mech are tied together perfectly, the greebeling is excellent as well. Nice work creating something outside your comfort zone! Though the other judges have already made their decision, my vote is for your creation. |

Oh well. If I were a judge you'd have my vote. This is a very creative take on the category, more so then your opponent in my opinion. Although I think his build is a little cleaner. Great job anyway!
Thanks even though I lost it was still nice to step out of my comfort zone and find out how fun it is to build mechs :) |

What a modern caveman! I love its cockpit especially! The weapon on the right arm is also very interesting!

This was a tough decision, as these are both very fantastic Mocs. I wish I could pick both of the creations, but I can't! I'm sorry, but in the end I picked Eric's as the one I preferred. Great job on building it though!
Well I can understand your descision Eric has a VERY good mecha! Oh well theres always next year :/ |

Thanks! It's not as creative and clean as yours though. |

Pretty good, but I have one suggestion: since the back of this MOC is weak, I wouldn't have suggested showing it at all. It takes away from the overall build.
The back of the cockpit I agree is very weak but the reason I took a picture of the back was to show the back of the legs. Thanks for the advice though :) |

Don't misunderstand Chris, you did a great job, this was a tough call for me. You still have two more judges to go, good luck!
I didn't mean to come across rude or anything I just meant that it was a tough build! But I can understand your judging Erics is REALLY good! |

One thing I love about these categories is getting people to build things they've never done before. I too made my first mech for a contest so I can relate with you here. You did a great job and I wish you luck with your judges!~H p.s.: Though I am not one of your judges, I will be leaving a more thorough critic once judging is complete. =)
Ok thanks! I think my chances of advancing to the next round are pretty slim so all critique is welcome:) |

This was a tough call for me as both of you did a great job, however, my vote goes to Eric W by a very slim margin.
Well it's not that easy to build a mech for a caveman/tennis player/ racecar driver. And since its a caveman I can't put that much technology or detail into it. |

A Caveman running at you yelling and waving a club is a very freightning sight. But a caveman doing the same things in a mech... well I can't think any worse now... Great job, you have some serious skills building mechs! I expect to see more mechs coming from you. Ah, and good luck in the competition!
Haha thanks! I will definitely be making more mechs in the future :) |

The gold studs don't fit it at all, but a stone mech is, I have to admit, a god idea.
Yea I tried not to make the gold studs be seen but I forgot about the ones on the legs :/ |

Replying to your reply... I feel like you have the upper hand because of the fig you chose to use and how well you built this mech. Not only did you do a great job, it was way out of your comfort zone. Also looking at it closer, you did some really cool techniques like the SNOT on the legs, the different angles around the cockpit and the simplicity of the cockpit. Now it's up to the judges to decide. I don't think we could ever decide who's is better! I think yours is better and you think mine is! I guess we will have to leave it up to the judges to decide. But I still think yours has better techniques and what not. |

Wow, this is going to be a close match! Using the caveman was a great idea!
Thanks! I think if I didn't say what category this was in people would think I was building for that category where people back in time get advanced technology :P |

Great job, nice weapon and shield. You should get an extra few points for making a caveman mecha IMO. One of the more original collectibles to build one for.
Thanks for the comment. It was really tough to build a mecha for the caveman but I think that would be the case for about all of the first series of the collectable minifigures. |

Wow Chris! I see you put a lot of effort into this. I'd venture to say this is your best MOC to date. Just cause it's so far out of your comfort zone, and you still aced it. Did you ever see those links I gave you, when you asked about Mechs on one of my MOCs? Check them out, and continue to build Mecha. You have a talent for it. Aaand one more thing, you very well may lose against Eric, but don't let that get you down. Well done!
Sorry I asked that question and then never went back. I will definately go look at those links before I enter this into the group. I know I will most likely lose to Eric but I don't mind because this contest really put me outside of my comfort zone and I realized how fun it is to build mechs. Thanks for the comment :) |

Wow, dude, you built an awesome mech! It really has that caveman look and the detail is really good. I really like the hydraulic looking pieces on the legs which give it a realistic look. It's going to be tough for the judges! I think you did an amazing job on your first mech! Good luck buddy!
Mines alright I think yours has the upper hand since its more up to date. |
