The thing that bores me to tears is what pretty much everyone on this site hates with a passion! SORTING!
About this creation
Round 2 of the 2011 MocOlypics has me building against Yuri Fassio in the category of "status Quo" (build something mundane and snore inducing).
Sorting is a real pain but it is unfortunately necessary in this hobby. For every minute you spend building, You'll likely spend a solid five minutes sorting afterward.
So, let's say that you decided to pull a Mark Kelso and build a SHIP 13' long and 4' wide that contains a couple hundred thousand pieces and took a little over twenty months to complete. I'm not even going to bother trying to do the math there. That's a LOT of sorting!
Before you know it your buried up to your nipples in ABS!
Just looking at that beautiful creation might be enough to give you a nerdgasm...
but I guarantee you'll regret building it when it comes time to tear that colossal mass of plastic apart!
My sorting system is a little bit overkill. Sorting everything by colour isn't enough for me, no I have to sort everything by type of element as well. Long story short, I've got a mountain of clear plastic containers and I spend more time putting LEGO in them then I do taking LEGO out...
Another round done and gone! I have a feeling Yuri won this round (Awesome build, Yuri!) This round was like Kryptonite for me! "No sci-fi, fantasy, or fun" WHAAAA?! That's pretty much all I ever build! Kryptonite I say!
Anyway, the move is done and I got my new camera (Nikon Coolpix L120 for those wondering). If I make it through to the next round, The pictures should be decent from now on. No more iphone pictures for me! On the other hand, if Yuri's house moving gorilla bot shoots my MocO hopes down, I think I'll build a bounty hunter ship for the FBTB contest. Either way i'm building something cool!
Good luck to all the remaining competitors and thanks for taking a look!
Quoting Yuri Fassio
Congratulations, man. Not that I ever thought I could beat you (I'm a fan of yours since you were still a TFOL) but I was sure of it the moment I saw that cheeslope rug in the room. Keep it up!
Thanks, Yuri! I'm quite proud of that rug. That was the first thing I built. The rest of the moc kinda formed around it. It's a bitter sweet win, though. As happy as I am to move on, it's also pretty disappointing to get you eliminated so early in the games. You still kick my arse at bionicle :)
Congratulations Jason! This was an especially good build and a witty story to boot, i also am a bit OCD when it comes to sorting, i will be posting my collection soon so you can see. I unfotunately didn't get through but it's a blessing in disguise as i can build what i want when i want :) Good luck in R3 i'll keep my eye out for your entry.
I'm sorry, Jason, but your opponent got my vote. I love your work here and I'm a fan of clean builds in general. Actually, there's nothing I don't like, it's just my opinion that Yuri's MOC is a bit more original.
Jason... this is PERFECT! I loved the build itself and then the "bores the (bleep) outta you" angle you chose is something that every Lego builder can relate to. You got my vote! Good luck with the other judges! ~ Chris.
great scene jason! cool and clean, great color scheme, very detailed, superb props, excellent work!!! i m renewing my city, and i know what you mean, i also sort heavyly [check my cyberlab] one trick i ve found, is to keep your props in a box or case, and reuse them in the next same type creation, it works well for city, but, it applies to most upgrades of creations, visit sometimes!
You're giving up before you've even begun? I wouldn't, this looks amazing. Am I one of those few people that actually enjoys sorting? I think secretly you do too. You'll see why I enjoy sorting when I post my meticulous collection ;) you've done an amazing job here and should be confident. Best of luck to you :) I added my entry yesterday :)
This is going to be tough for the judges! Love that mess you have going on. My favorite part is the "carpet" being ever so high above the wood floor. Such a clever technique, although simple at the same time! Good luck!
That rug is great! Excellent entry. Great vig full of detail and fun. The scene with the Lego everywhere is what my place looks like at the moment. I make more of a mess building than I do sorting. Best of luck!
I have to agree with Ru that rug is absolutely outstanding! But I have to dissagree with you. I quite enjoy organizing mainly because I like to be very neat. But anyway nice MOC. It will be intresting to see which one of you makes it to the next round. Good luck :)
Excuse me for a moment ... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAH! ... ahem, OK, I'm back. *phew* Well, well, that is freakin' hilarious and an awesome build as well. Now we know what the final Eye of Chaos looks like. Hehe. Good luck!
Well done Jason! There are some very good details, namely the 12:01 on the clock ;). I must agree that Yuri has you on this one, however the judges will most likely see things differently! Best of luck.
