About this creation
Round 2 my entry for the MocOlympics
My opponent David Lee and his brilliant entry .
Category: Sign of the Zodiac
Since I didn't know much about the signs of the zodiac, this was a tough challenge for me. After reading myths about the signs, I discovered that Aries (the ram) was a great myth.
In the myth of the golden fleece, the ram was given by Nephle to Phrixus and Helle. To escape the wrath of Hera, the pair fled across the sea on the back of the ram. Helle fell off and drowned, giving her name to the Hellespont, but Phrixus arrived safely in Colchis. There he sacrificed the ram to Zeus, who placed it in the constellations.
Scene inspiration:
- I went to the beach this summer and saw a lot of driftwood/reeds washed up after hurricane Irene so I added that to the beach.
- The turtle on the beach uses an army helmet
- The crane-like bird is inspired by the work of 'LL' on Flickr
- The waves have a frenzied look to them like the ones I saw at the beach
EDIT: I made it! David was a great opponent and I hope I can go against him next year.

As has been said, fantastic waves and rocks. The grass atop the cliffs interests me greatly as well. Next time I'm working on a landscape, I'll have to come back here to get a closer look. |

There you are, I was looking for you a few days ago, though I did not not know your name, and as time and obligation sometimes dictates, I failed.
However you found me, I am honored that you added me to your impressive list and congratulations on Winning the contest I didn't even know about until I saw David's creation on MLNO.
At the risk of repeating myself, I am honored and I can easily say you are one of MY favorite builders, your models are epic and I will be borrowing some of your techniques and epicness sometime soon.
Your friend forever, legodac, aka, The legodac Brickerage Firm, aka eh, David A. Carruthers
Hey Mr. David,
I found you from your comment on David Lee's creation. I've been in awe of your LDD Factory building skills for a long time! I don't want to repeat myself either, but I wish I could be as skilled as you at LDD.
Its was great seeing you on MOCpages as I don't do LEGO.com anymore(my old username was mercylercy).

Beautiful MOC mister - both regarding, theme and technique! I have just one technical question-how many 1x2 and 1x1 trans clear plates did you use for waves? I have about +400 1x1 and +50 1x2 of them...so, your answer would save me a lot of time in constructing some watery landscape..Best regards, Surduk
Thanks! There are about 400 to 450 1x2s used. I actually do not have any 1x1s. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions. -Noah |

I guess you will succeed in this round. The composition is nice. Maybe the to with the temple on is a bit flat and the green wall around it a bit too green? But you can find exactly such sceneries in reality. Its pretty cool over all. |

Ehi man, this creation is stunning. Everything is very smooth, in fact really so great.
Tha waves, the ram (is brilliant), the rock, and the temple, all is perfect, and really well photographed.
The only flaw are the photos uploaded to a small size. Perhaps a creation so beautiful, deserved great photos uploaded.
Congratulations and my best of luck! |
