A lucky spelunker discovers a huge crystal. (A contest entry inspired by a true story.)
About this creation

I built this for the 2011 LEGO design competition at S.W. Randall Toyes & Gifts, my local toy store.

It won third prize in the Adult category!

The scene was inspired by pictures of the world's largest crystals (alas, not diamond!), discovered in a Mexican cave not too many years ago.

The contest limited entries to a ten-inch cube of shelf space...I wanted to build something that occupied most of that volume, not just the "floor". But I couldn't decide on a theme at first. When my girlfriend suggested archaeology, this concept immediately...ah...crystallized.

Sorry about the blurry pictures.

Quoting Andrew Mobley I would love it if you could make the photos show up larger and give us more descriptions of what is happenning in the scene!
Sorry about that. Should be clearer now.

As someone who rappels into caves as my other hobby, I really love this! I never thought to do a caving MOC! I would love it if you could make the photos show up larger and give us more descriptions of what is happenning in the scene!
