MIT round 1 Ben King vs. Bob the inconceivably invincible
About this creation
Here is my entry for the 2011 MIT contest. Here is the link to my opponent Bob's homepage . My category was cubedude superhero. I built a scene in which Stupendous Man, a.k.a Calvin, from Calvin and Hobbes drops a snowball onto his neighbor Susie's head from a tree. The hardest part of this was building the tree and I still don't like how square the top half looks but it was the best I could do. In case you don't get it the grey stuff is the sidewalk, and I just thought I might explain that because both my mom and my sister thought it was a frozen river.

Here is a close up of the snowball splattering across the pavement as it hits Susie's head.

A close up of Stupendous Man.

I hope you enjoyed this and please comment!

Thanks,
Ben

Quoting Augie 2001 You should make calvin and hobbes up a tree with their sled.
I considered it earlier but it wouldn't qualify for the MO's, I will probably end up doing that scene sometime.

Quoting Sebeus I You know what ? this is brilliant :P while it's a funny scene It's also artistic, I like the shadow from the tree, very nice.
Thanks! That is the first time I've been called brilliant :) Actually I was going for funny and I didn't even think about the artisticness, but now that you say it, that shadow is artistic.

Mixing two completely different comic categories is a very unusual idea and brilliantly executed. Picture quality often depends more on the right lightening and not so much on the right camera. In this particular case, the lightening and picture quality serves the winter scene. Good work, Ben.

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera This is cool! Love the winter tree. You really need to work on your lighting though, the pictures are too dark and fuzzy. Best of luck :)
I'll try making my next moc brighter, thanks for the tip :)

I'm trying to fix the photo quality issue right now so hopefully my next moc will have better pictures.

Thanks! I picked stupendous man because I only know a couple superheros like batman and superman and those have been made into cubedudes at least a million times.

Nice tree! Oh, and the shadow makes the build all the more interesting, even though it was probably a mistake.
