The Inventor started his life as a humble farmer’s son. The values of this simple life can be seen in his actions to this day. Even at a young age, he was constantly creating gadgets and gizmos to aid his father in the field and mother in the house.
One day a wealthy travelling merchant stopped by the farm to purchase some supplies for his journey back to the capital. Seeing all of the boy’s wondrous creations, the merchant offered to pay for his formal education at the capital’s prestigious School of Engineering. After adjusting to his new life in the city, he quickly became the brightest mind the school had seen since its founding 500 years ago.
Tragically, just as he was finishing the masterpiece of his academic career (a clockwork brain) when his family was slaughtered by a band of goblins pillaging the family farm. Blinded by his desire for revenge, he left his studies and hired a notorious bounty hunter to aide him in tracking and killing the goblins. Catching the goblins by surprise, he and his companion killed every goblin in a single bloody night.
The cost of his vengeance was losing his leg and a fundamental change of his outlook on life. His inventions became machines of war and battle. Before he had shared his designs for the betterment of all, while now he horded them for personal power. A few he sold to the highest bidder for vast sums of money, which made him ridiculously wealthy. With his newfound riches and numerous machines he founded a small province to rule and create on his own terms.
Many view his realm as a utopia. His populace knows no crime, has plenty of leisure time, and live in one of the safest provinces in the region. This is possible because of the Inventor’s prized creations: the clockwork.
The clockwork automatons are powered by his patented steam engine, and they make the perfect soldiers: obedient, powerful, and emotionless. They act as the army and workforce, which allow the population to pursue other activities. While the inventor prefers to stay in his workshop devising new devices, he is not afraid to use his supreme intellect to lead his armies and engage in battle.
The Inventor wears his unique steam powered armor when in combat. The armor has retractable wings and propulsion system that allows him to fly short distances. It also has two manipulator arms which aide in combat by crushing foes and deflecting attacks. Attached to the chest piece is device that emits a powerful sonic pulse that stuns everyone in a short radius. In one had he wields saber which is electrically charged—the enemy is always shocked when they cross swords with the inventor! In the other hand he wields a powerful flamethrower that permits him lay down a solid wall of flame to melt his enemies. He also has a pair of steam-powered pistols holstered within easy reach should he need them.
