Here is my entry for the FBTB MOC Madness 2011 Tournament

EDIT: I ended up getting first place! WHOO!
About this creation

At nearly 600 years old, and one of the last of her species, Niobrara Shaar is one of the lesser-known bounty hunters in the galaxy. She is kept alive by a biomechanical suit which indirectly served as a prototype for the future General Grievous. Niobrara has equipped herself with a modified hand cannon that has an ever-useful 'stun' setting.

Her ship, Arkose VII, is the final design in a series of spy ships from her home planet of Felucia. The overall morphology and wingspan give the ship excellent atmospheric maneuverability. This trait aids in space flight, and Niobrara has also outfitted her ship with a hyperdrive, increased deflector shield projectors, two prisoner holding cells, and two proton torpedo cannons (to deal with any moon-like space stations that get in the way).

As mentioned above, the prisoner holding cells have been attached to the bottom of the ship, and are made out of the same material as Arkose VII's windshield. The strengthened shield projectors give extra protection for the bounty. Also seen in this shot is the ship's hyperdrive engine (which actually lights up and makes sounds!*)
And some complimentary shots:

mocpages has been so screwy lately, not only are most of my pictures still trapped within the abyss of the interwebs, but I've also had trouble just going to the website in general, my browser (and i've tried several) just sits there and "loads" for-seemingly-ever. Anyways I finally got on so here you go, I hope you enjoy it.
oh, here's a link to the tournament if you want to check it out: FBTB MOC Madness 2011 Tournament

Impossibly cool ship and pilot. The stripes and slopes put in for color are some of the best I have ever seen. I especially like the stripe that curves over the dorsal surface and connects the two wing stripes. Very well done. Attack! |

Wow! Phenomenal. The detail is stellar. Your greebling is flawless. I especially like the curved pieces that run down the center of the ship. Very creative. This is one of the best ships of its size I've seen on this site. And I can't wait to see this SHIP that you are planning. |

Really cool! How did you get those white streaks in and how did you angle the wings? I love the greebles!
Well, first of all they are tan hahaha, but everyone thinks they are white so I guess I blame my own photography/editing skills. Anyways... they are just 1x2 sloped pieces (some regular, some inverted) with plates trailing behind them, so they are in fact lego and not diced up stickers.
And the wings are angled forward (in other words rotated within the horizontal plane) by an array of technic pieces, then rotated down with some simple click-hinge-joint-thingies |

One of the best entries so far. My main remark is about the prisoner compartment. it does not really look "Star Wars-ish". In Star Wars, most cells or prison are larger and not just "tubes", even above bounty-hunter ships (refer to comics or even the cells on board the death star in ANH). Many entries have the same issue (issue to me at least).
I actually completely agree, I wasn't really happy with the way these turned out. I would have much rather built a more traditional cell but i started running out of room and I didn't want the ship to be too big. I know that's horrible planning but oh well... |

I'm really cheesed off Zane. I wanted to build a cool looking ship for my son, so naturally I came to look at your portfolio for ideas. At the risk of sounding grippy, I'm annoyed I still can't see the pics on most of your old MOCs. However, this new one is a fine infusion to get the juices flowing. Lovely. |

This definitely ranks in the top ten Lego starfighter's I've seen, and I've seen a lot of them. The angles are stunning, and the craft is completely smooth, and those patterns set in the wings look great. The light up engine is a mere finishing touch on an already spectacular piece. Excellent work! |

Absolutely stunning. You've accomplished what most only can aspire to do; you've made something out of Lego that doesn't look like it's made out of Lego. I am truly envious of your command of the medium and would greatly appreciate an expert advice you may have on my Flying Rhino light freighter. |

The wedge like design and the way everything seems to angle towards the nose makes for a very aggressive looking ship. The brick build detailing adds to this as well with the arrows pointing toward the front. Lots of smooth clean snot work, but the greebling between the plates make use of all available space while keeping a sleek design. Looks like a well planned out design from the start. Too bad MOCpages isn't completely up to speed yet. |
