A tribute to Classic Lego Space and Futuron
This is a stroll down memory lane. Back in the days when I was a kid, I was fortunate to grow up with these Lego Sets. When ever there was a reason, I would beg my parents for a new set to the collection. In no time I had a big space landscape in my room and enjyoed playing with it. 30 some years later i captured my childhood when I went to my basement and found all the sets with the instructions. In no time I started to build the sets and this is the result. I still need to build about 15 sets, but I just couldn't wait. I hope You all enjoy and take a look back at the most beloved sets Lego ever released. I know there's a lot of people who like me would wish for a re-release, but I doubt Lego dare to do it.

Quoting Elk Guard I am sure there are many an AFOL looking at this tribute going, 'I had that and that, and that..'. I know I was, thanks for the trip down memory lane. I wish I had all my old sets together now, but with two younger brothers and numerous cousins, there are too many missing parts after the various hand-me-downs.
That can happen if You came out of a big family. I have to younger sisters who played Barbie Dolls and my cousins lived to far away for this to happen. I only had to be aware when friends from school or the neighbors kid visited me. My father was the reason I got a lot of the sets, because he used to travel a lot and allways brought back a new set when he came home. He even encouraged me to apply job at Lego. Back then I would keep the original boxes for a long time and be carefull when removing the ceilling. I still have some of the boxes, but a lot was too damaged when I moved from my parents.

Quoting Connor Simpson Wow, great collection. It's really interesting to see how much Lego has evolved.
Yeah they have evolved a lot, just wish for these sets to be re-released. The good thing back then was that the parts was simple to use and the instructions was easy to understand. When the Futuron sets came out in the late '80 You could really see the difference. New minifigs and new big parts, especially the transparent dark blue panels was a hit, and they got away with the old gray and blue colors. After the Futuron sets, Blacktron 1, Space Police 1, M-Tron, Blacktron 2, Space Police 2 and Exploriens were released. I remember how fast I was missing the Classic Sets and I stopped buying sets after Exploriens. The theme Space had evolved fast, but after my opinion they stuck too much with Blacktron and Space Police. I like the themes, but was not satisfied that they made them twice, just modifying the theme. All the themes back then was more simple, just not as detailed as today. Details today are used in many ways, because it's easier to invent new parts and giving the customer a more realistic model. You can allways use Your imagination when building Lego, but back then You had to use it better than today.
