The Titans Citadel
Sticking with the White and Gold theme, here is a little number I managed to produce and stay happy with.
About this creation
So as many of you will be aware, I have recently been trying to work at a White/Gold colour combination build. My few earlier attempts failed in epic proportions! As we know the challenge to building has nothing to do with size, its to do with maximising a model within the limits that our collection has. Here is what I've come up with.

2 weeks ago I was told that a Lego Rep would be at my local Toyworld Store - as I was working on my MO:R3 entry I couldn't start building yet. I have spent 5 hours per day for the last 5 days creating this. It uses just under 5000pieces and is built on top of 9 32x32 base plates. In order to not over-shoot my part limitations I built the palace from the top down, I then made the base for it and pulled the free-standing palace apart from the bottom upwards as I built it onto the base - this way I knew I had enough pieces to complete it :)

The original idea was to build a minifig scale castle with access - this had to re-assessed due to a lack of parts. I didn't want to have a surrounding that drew the eye off the main feature, this is why I have kept the surrounding nano-scale city to two colours, a few trees, and just enough details to make it look complete without looking busy. Again I would have preferred Green plates for the land colour but brown it has to be - I also think the red roofs against a green ground would have been hard on my colour blindness. This build will be torn down tomorrow in anticipation of the MO:R4 start.

I hope you all enjoy what I've managed to come up with, its my first large scale intentionally 'art' styled piece of work. Everyone from the public who visited the store in the 3 hours it was on show loved it. The Lego rep also told me it is the best free build he has seen in his travels around the country. He took photos and will be talking to his bosses about options to get my builds more public viewing opportunities, yess! ~Thoy

Quoting Stormbringer . Why? Why did you have to post this monstrous gigantic moc right before the start of Round 4? Your making me lose hope dude.. Anyway, it'll be an honor and thrill to compete against you :)
Hehe, don't worry dude, I'll be giving you an easy win when I post my Clone on a plate ;) I completely agree with you though, and yes I am trying to get back some psychological advantage from all your epic builds so far in the comp :) Just make sure you bring that storm of yours :)

Quoting Chris Phipson Thoy, that thing is just beautiful! And it looks like we're not giving you enough to build in the Olympics since you have time to crank out stuff like this... ;) ~ Chris.
Haha, no worries there, it looks as though R4 will bring me a much more time consuming build - especially with Stormbringer as my opponent! Thanks as always Mate.

Quoting Deus Otiosus Nice, but in microscale, there should be less studs at least in the temple.
Less studs would have been nice all over this build :) I just don't have that many tiles :( Thanks Deus!

Quoting Mark Kelso Nice work, Thoy! I really like the beautiful pattern seen so clearly from the overhead shot. At first glance the gates and pillar work had me thinking it was a minifig scale creation, but then the surrounding architecture put the size of the citadel into perspective - God, that thing would be HUUUUUGE! Anyway, another wonderful MOC - well done!
Thanks Mark, yeah I quite liked the way the perspective effect came out, it was a bit stronger than I first thought it might be.

Quoting Gabriel Thomson Wow - you are a machine, cranking this out in between MO rounds. And it's a beauty too - i hope it gets you more exhibition opportunities, yr MOC's ought to be seen far and wide! :)
R4 looks a bit more time consuming, I don't think I'll be cranking anything out between R4 and a possible R5. Thanks :)

Quoting JS Can Fantastic job! I am glad you included the level shot and straight down shot. Another photo that would probably look good, that would work since it is on a table is to get slightly lower than the building and shoot up, making it look more massive and towering.
Yea a low down shot might have been good too, I didn't even think of it :( Thanks for the suggestion I'll remember it for next time :)
