Buccaneer Assault Mech
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
About this creation
introducting the Buccaneer Assault Mech! I saw Chunkblaster's sleek Demigog and just knew I had to make something like it.

originally known as the HT-47v Heavy Mech, it was one of several New Republic designs being shipped to the NAF. it was only a prototype, and only a hundred of them were in the shipment. the cargo ships carrying the prototype Mechs were hijacked by a space pirate organization known as the Leviathan Marauders, who found the Mechs and, instead of selling them, decided to use them for their own. renaming the HT-47v the Buccaneer, they began modifying the units, giving them new tech, weapons, and, most importantly, better paint jobs (:P).
Dach "Dasher" Raeba, a skilled commander among the Leviathan Marauders, was assigned the position of commander of the newly-formed Buccaneer Division, and now Dasher and his men are one of the most deadly foes any New Republic or Imperial patrol will ever face.

Name: Buccaneer Assault Mech
Model HT-47v Heavy Mechanized Battle Suit
Power Source: Mk.15 Magna Generator Core (1.5 Terawatt charge)
Armor: Durasteel (equipped with armor-conductive deflector shields) reinforced with titanium
Motor System: Baktoid Automata EM Ball Motors
Propulsion: T-33 Ion Thrusters, Repulsor stabilizers in wings and lower legs
Armament: (original) EG-17 Heavy Blaster Rifles, Z-24 Rotary Cannon, SR4 Short-Range Rockets (12), PLX-5 Supermag Concussion Missile Launcher; (custom) custom-model blastswords, proton charge rifle, magnetic accelerators (grenade launchers)

what you see here are two of the EG-17 Heavy Blaster Rifles. they were standard issue for the HT-47v unit, and despite the wide range of different weapons included, the majority of Buccaneer Division likes to keep a few good ol' blasters with them. some of them even stick to an all-blaster armament and use them to great effect. "ancient weapons and hokey religions are no match for a good blaster by your side." -Han Solo

this bad baby you see here is the Z-24 Rotary Cannon. it has the designation "cannon" for a reason. a major problem with most fully-automatic blasters is that they overheat very quickly. the Z-24 got past that problem by using a special cooling system. each blaster, after firing, is spun around to the bottom where a special cooling socket lies, quickly cooling it off. this allows the Z-24 to keep firing indefinitely without overheating. not only that, but the extra-long barrels give each blaster bolt enough speed to hit as hard as a light laser cannon round.

the SR4 rockets, though small, pack quite a punch. unfortunately that punch comes at the cost of firing range and guiding systems, making it good for very little besides taking down well-armored nearby targets. the Buccaneer carries twelve of these nasty little things.

the magnetic accelerators were custom-designed projectile launchers that were adapted as grenade launchers. favored for their versatility, the magnetic accelerators can fire almost any grenade in existence, from thermal detonators to EMP grenades. all that's needed is to set a grenade to impact-sensitive and place it in the ammo rack, which can carry up to seven grenades (with an eight already loaded into it). it launch a grenade up to 100 meters, making it quite effective as a short-range artillery weapon. one of the biggest drawbacks of the magnetic accelerator is its shape, as the only way to securely attach it is to fold back the maneuvering fins on the ion thrusters, which renders the Buccaneer unable to fly.

got something big you need to take down? the PLX-5 Supermag missile launcher is the biggest missile launcher you'll ever see. fitted onto the Buccaneer's right shoulder, the Plex can carry a wide variety of different missiles in torpedoes, such as proton torpedoes and concussion missiles, of all sizes, from those used in handheld missile launchers to the large concussion missiles found on capital ships. according to space pirate philosophy, the bigger a weapon is the better. as such, the most common ammunition used in the Plex is the oversized starship-based concussion missile, which packs enough power to blow an AT-AT to bits in a single shot. concussion missiles can be fired two ways: "dead", or line-of-sight based, or-if the Buccaneer has the bulky sensor unit on its other shoulder-can get a lock on a target so the missile can track it. the Plex has a couple problems, though. its huge size makes flight extremely difficult, and its size eliminates the possibility of having the SR4 rocket launchers or magnetic accelerators mounted on at the same time as the Plex.

now we get to my personal favorite: the blastswords. blastswords are just like their names say they are- an odd cross between a blaster and a sword. originating on the planet Adumar, blastswords were originally used by professional duelists. when Adumar joined the New Republic, blastswords began spreading all throughout the galaxy. the Leviathan Marauders acquired quite a large number of them, and most of the space pirates were quite proficient with the weapon. the oversized variant used on the Buccaneer was a home-built model, made by fitting most of the components in a light laser cannon into some of the large vibro-swords they found when they raided the New Republic shipment. the vibroswords, composed entirely of phrik alloy, are immensely strong and sharp enough to cut through duracrete like it were butter. they are extremely sturdy, and can withstand strikes by durasteel vibroswords, beskads, plasma blades, and even lightsabers without taking a scratch.

one of the most unusual aspects of the blastsword is the way it works. the only way to fire off the blaster mechanism is to strike something with the sword. every time the swords impacts against something, the blaster fires, sending a blaster bolt flying out the tip. in the hands of an untrained user, it would be just as dangerous to the wielder as it would be to his opponent. but those among the Leviathan Marauders often have great skill in the use of blastswords and know how to use them well.

the proton charge rifle, nicknamed the "blunderbuss", it an extremely dangerous shotgun-like weapon. these home-build weapons use an unusual form of ammunition. they remove the charges out of proton bombs and place them in a make shift shell filled with bits of metal scrap. the proton charges detonate, sending the metal bits flying with such force to punch through tank armor. if it weren't for the fact that these deadly weapons and their ammunition had to be made by hand, every pirate would be carrying them.

the Buccaneer is equipped with a pair of ion thrusters for flight, as well as wings and repulsors for keeping it stable. it also carries the best flight control algorithms of any New Republic Mech. despite this, it still performs somewhat poorly when attempting to perform long-distance flight. it's usually only used to travel short distances quickly or to give it an edge in battle.

the front view. (finally something profound! :P)

the back view.

I used a lot of design elements from the Demigog, so credit to Chunkblaster.

by the way Chunk, I used the same hand design as the one on the Demigog, so most of the weapons the Buccaneer has will also work on the Demigog. with some slight modifications it could also carry the Z-24.

oh man. XD I just realized that I gave the pilot the same uniform as all my NAF pilots. oops.

Quoting BiO.Andrew (UGM-7 series in progress!) My question is how would the pilot be able to operate a mech with four arms if he only has two arms?
lol, my brother just asked that same question. :P just to add to the irony a bit, his name's Andrew. :P

Quoting Thomas Z. Amazing build, I like the weapons a lot, altough the blast sword idea is kinda..funny? :D Otherwise it's a great MOC, well done!
thanks! the blastsword idea is a real Star Wars weapon, believe it or not. you'll have to complain to Michael Stackpole if you don't like it. :P

Quoting Rabid Goldfish Interesting refit, but to be honest, I think the four arm design is a little much. Still, good adaptation. You might wanna take a look at this 'Wisened' one's AEGAKS builds. You might like the idea. ^Blub^
there you go with the "Wisened" thing again. :P anyway yeah I've been looking through them. I got the idea for the cockpit design (the cockpit was definitely the hardest part of this Mech) from some of your AEGAKS models. by the way, is it alright if I join your AEGAKS thing?

Quoting CBMC Chunkblaster I'm Proud to say the Demigoug inspired this mech =D Really great work there with the 4 arms, they look very natural on the mech. I can see you used much of the Demigoug's original frame (which is perfectly fine) but you did a great job on making it your own original creation. Fine work my friend! have you added this to the mechaniers yet?
actually, I built it completely from scratch. it's more a matter of having the Demigog right beside it as I was building. :P and um, how do you add a creation to the group?
