F-125 "Ares" Air Superiority Fighter
In an effort to keep the Montrovian Airforce at the forefront of the technological arms race, the Montrovian Defense Industry has created the most advanced air superiority jet fighter in the world: the F-125 "Ares". Named for the Greek god of war, bloodlust, violence, manly courage, and civil order, the Ares will work in conjuction with the F/A-17E "Firestorm", which will be relegated to ground attack almost exclusively. The F-17A will be phased out as the F-125 enters front line service. State of the art fly-by-wire controls, avionics, targetting, and defense systems ensure that the Ares will rule the skys for many years to come. The multi-role nature of the aircraft allows it to be fitted with air-to-ground weapons should the need arise.
About this creation

Looking down the barrel of the nose mounted 20mm cannon

Wings fully extended for high lift needed at take off and landing.

Wings fully swept forward for high speed manuverability.

Business end of the two Tomanski afterburning turbo jets which gives the F-125 a top speed of mach 2.5

Like all front line fighters, independent thrust vectoring is a must!

The underside

Landing gear extended

With the external missiles removed, weapon bays can be used when stealth is desired.

Wing mounted weapons include six medium range air-to-air missiles and two short range IR missiles (with two more in the weapon bays)

A view of the cockpit with the canopy removed

"For Montrovia! FOR VICTORY!"

This model is sweet. I love to build military aircraft and your F-125 has all the best qualities: trust vectoring like an f-35, internal weapon's bays, and fold up landing gears. once again this is an awsome aircraft.

While an interesting design, I think that the nose is rather heavy looking and would move the front landing gear to it. just a though...

Quoting claw paradox good fighter, but the outside pylons compromises its stealth capability.
It has weapon bays, but just like the F-22, it can mount weapons on the wings when stealth is not a priority.

Quoting Jasro 8 Inspiring build, so many features. Independent thrust vectoring is my favorite. Your comment suggests that they are a standard feature, but I thought it is quite specialized. I learned something new. Way cool I can imagine one at an air show.
Thanks for the compliment! This MOC was built for the Conflict game which was set in the future in a time in which thrust vectoring has become standard on most fighter aircraft.

Quoting Josh Guilbert Can this be adapted for air-to-ground?
Of course! Because we already have the F/A-17E, it will be used primarily for air superiority, however, smart bombs and AGMs can be fitted to the wings and weapon bays. (I saw that it had to be multi-role in the contest)
